Purchasing Specialist

Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) is a national, not-for-profit, shared services organization that supports hundreds of health care providers across Canada, as well as child welfare agencies and other public sector organizations. MMC provides value-driven contracting and procurement solutions for medical/surgical supplies, pharmaceutical products, local sourcing, capital (equipment, FF&E and redevelopment) and nutrition solutions. Other services include data analytics, in-hospital support, warehousing/logistics, technology, procure-to-pay, and accounts payable.

With an emerging focus on sustainability and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, MMC is actively supporting the creation of a resilient value chain that incorporates environmental, social and governance best practices. Based in Burlington, ON, the organization also has offices in Toronto, Thunder Bay, Kingston, Brantford, London and Chatham, and a distribution center in Oakville.

We are currently recruiting for a permanent part-time Purchasing Specialist to support our Purchasing Services team.

Position Overview

The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for executing Mohawk Medbuy Corporation’s purchasing process to help with any issues related to supply ordering.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Places orders required utilizing computerized software for the daily operation of all departments including performing duties such as receiving stock requisitions, sourcing suppliers, negotiating price, follow up on backordered products and co-coordinating delivery.
  2. Acts as a resource to provide information to a variety of internal and external clients on material resources procedures and collaborates with clients on problems with materials and/or services.
  3. Liaises with customers to clearly understand their purchasing and supply requirements and works with the Customer Service Specialist to coordinate and prioritize the processing of customer requisitions.
  4. Responds to the changing requirements of customers and follows up with customer issues.
  5. Evaluates Mohawk Medbuy Corporation’s service performance.
  6. Perform all supply chain functions in compliance with BPS Directives.
  7. Performs all job functions within the guidelines of Mohawk Medbuy Corporation’s policies and procedures.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  1. Grade 12 supplemented by PMAC Level II designation or equivalent level of education, training and 5+ years of experience. Ongoing education in the area of sourcing and contract management.
  2. 3+ years' experience in a Purchasing Analyst or related role, preferably in a healthcare environment.

Travel

  1. Ability to travel to Mohawk Medbuy offices if required.
  2. Must be able to travel within the Erie St Clair area when required using a reliable vehicle.

As a condition of employment, you are required to submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination to Human Resources.
