Village Media — a proudly independent, digital-first network of local news sources in 27 cities across the province — is searching for a Publisher, TorontoToday.ca & Toronto SPACES.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated, entrepreneurial and results-driven Publisher & Sales Leader to spearhead the growth of TorontoToday.ca and Toronto SPACES in downtown Toronto. This role is laser-focused on generating revenue, recruiting hosts for Toronto SPACES, and establishing our platforms as essential resources for the community.

We are looking for a "doer" who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about building strong relationships that drive business success.

Responsibilities

Sales & Revenue Generation:

1. Execute a comprehensive sales strategy, leveraging the Village Media sales model, to achieve and exceed revenue targets.
2. Identify and cultivate key commercial partnerships and advertising opportunities across the range of Village Media’s commercial offerings.
3. Directly sell advertising and sponsorship packages to local businesses.

Host Recruitment & Management:

1. Proactively identify and recruit influential individuals and organizations to become hosts on Toronto SPACES.
2. Develop and implement strategies to attract, engage, and retain high-quality hosts.
3. Provide ongoing mentorship to hosts to maximize their engagement and impact.

Community Networking & Relationship Building:

1. Actively participate in community events, chamber functions, and networking opportunities.
2. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including local businesses, community leaders, and residents.
3. Represent Village Media as a passionate and effective brand ambassador.

Qualifications:

1. Proven track record of success in direct sales and revenue generation.
2. Exceptional networking and relationship-building skills.
3. Strong ability to identify and recruit key influencers.
4. Highly motivated, results-oriented, and self-directed.
5. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
6. A passion for hyperlocal media and community engagement.
7. Entrepreneurial spirit and a "doer" mentality.
8. Existing strong connections within the downtown Toronto business community is a major asset.
