PUBLIC SKATING MONITOR

Position Type: Temporary Part-Time

Hourly Rate: $15.99 - $16.88 per hour

Hours of Work: Approximately 2-4 hours per week, mostly weekends

Department: Community Services Department

Employee Group: Administrative Group

Work Location: Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre

PURPOSE AND SCOPE

As a member of the Community Services Department, this staff person will assist the Skating Instructor with providing instruction to children and youth in the City of Belleville’s Skating Programs. This position reports directly to the Youth Programmer.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for the safety and supervision of the participants and for ensuring the rules and regulations set out by the Community Services Department and/or outside organizations are followed.
  2. Represent the City with professionalism by following all of the Staff Policies and Procedures set out by the Department.
  3. Must be knowledgeable of City Programs and have strong public relation skills.
  4. Responsible for assisting to provide skating instruction and feedback to students and their parents in the City’s skating programs.
  5. Assist the Skating Instructor in an emergency situation.
  6. Assist in the administration and paperwork for the City’s power skating programs.
  7. Attend all Staff Training sessions and scheduled staff meetings, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be at minimum enrolled in high school.
  2. Must be a minimum of 15 years of age.
  3. Current Standard First Aid and CPR 'C' Certification from a WSIB recognized organization.
  4. Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
  5. Experience working with children is an asset.
