As the Public Outreach Education Officer II within the External Relations team in the Newfoundland East Field Unit, you will be a member of a dynamic team that provides functional leadership and support for external relations at Parks Canada. You will have the lead role in developing and implementing field unit public outreach education programs, products, and events to increase understanding and appreciation of the natural and cultural heritage places managed by Parks Canada. Through your creativity and initiative, you will work to connect with a variety of audiences including young urban Canadians, urban families, and new Canadians, reaching them in their daily lives through interactions at local/regional special events and through interactive video mediums. You will also work as a hands-on presenter, connecting directly with Canadians both in the field and at our National Parks and National Historic Sites.

To staff a full-time seasonal indeterminate position for 6 months annually (May-October). Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized college or university with specialization in education, communications, marketing, resource conservation, history, social science, or other discipline relevant to the position or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.
OR
An acceptable combination of two years of education and training AND two years of experience relevant to this position.
EX1: Experience planning and delivering public outreach or education programs, public special events, or activities aimed at promoting conservation and/or cultural/natural heritage.
EX2: Experience developing and presenting educational programs and/or materials to diverse audiences.
Bilingual - Non Imperative (BBB/BBB)
The Public Outreach Education Officer II position must obtain intermediate level (BBB) evaluation results in reading, writing and speaking in their second language (English or French) prior to hiring.
Knowledge:
K1: Knowledge of the techniques used in public outreach, education, and interpretation to present natural and/or cultural heritage content.
Abilities:
A1: Ability to facilitate learning opportunities related to complex concepts for diverse audiences.
A2: Ability to meet an audience’s needs and interests through the planning, development, and delivery of public outreach, education, or interpretation programs.
A3: Ability to plan and organize the logistics associated with planning and delivering presentations, workshops, and other public outreach events.
Personal Suitability:

Asset Experience:
AEX1: Experience training and supervising staff, volunteers, and/or students.
