Position Summary:
The Clinical Counsellor/Psychotherapist is responsible for the provision of psychotherapeutic assessment and treatment to individuals 16 years of age and older with cognitive, emotional, or behavioural concerns/issues through a therapeutic relationship based primarily on verbal or non-verbal communication, in individual or group session formats. Further to this, the Clinical Counsellor/Psychotherapist will be responsible for clinical case consultation, multidisciplinary team treatment planning meetings, psychoeducational groups, provision of student placements/supervision, community liaison, and community presentations, as required.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Clinical or Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or Occupational Therapy, or equivalent, with psychotherapy training including supervised practicum(s);
- Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and/or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, and/or other appropriate regulated health professional’s college in Ontario;
- 3-5 years’ experience working with individuals 16 years of age and older with moderate to severe addictions and/or mental health issues preferred;
- Ability to effectively connect with individuals, colleagues, families, and the community;
- Expertise in the areas of individual and group counselling;
- Knowledgeable of trauma-informed therapies, and working from a client-centered focus;
- Experience working with at least two of the following therapeutic modalities: CBT, DBT, Narrative, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Brief/Solution Focused;
- Experience working effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, and in the provision of student supervision;
- Proficiency in conducting psychotherapeutic assessments and the subsequent provision of evidence-based psychotherapeutic intervention strategies;
- Ability to effectively use various types of verbal, nonverbal and written communication, including but not limited to psychotherapy, counselling, advocacy, and de-escalation of individuals in distress;
- Demonstrates appropriate diplomacy and judgement when liaising with internal and external professionals, family members, colleagues, community, and the public;
- Ability to work under pressure within a changing environment;
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external colleagues/health care professionals in meeting clients’ recovery goals;
- Ability to be very organized in the development, collection, and presentation of documented information;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Electronic Management Records software (i.e., EMHWare, CRMS), and navigating computers and the internet.
