Job Summary:

Psychosocial Oncology, within Patient and Family Support Services, consists of a multidisciplinary team of social workers, clinical counsellors, and psychiatrists who provide assessment and counselling services to patients and families of CancerCare Manitoba. Education, research, and community program development are also significant activities within the department. This position will provide clinical counselling services to individuals, families, and groups at CancerCare Manitoba. The incumbent's primary site is St. Boniface. Clinical assignments may be assigned in other CCMB sites to provide coverage, if needed.

Qualifications:

Required:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Social Work (BSW) from a Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE) accredited school/faculty, or a Provincially authorized post-secondary program, or the approved equivalent if internationally educated
  2. A clinical internship/ field placement from an accredited program
  3. Minimum of three years of clinical counselling/consultation experience
  4. Registration or eligibility for registration by an appropriate licensing body
  5. Experience with building relationships and working in collaborative partnerships
  6. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  7. Strong problem solving, critical thinking, organizational skills
  8. Proficiency with MS Office; Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
  9. Must hold a satisfactory employment record
  10. Must be legally able to work in Canada

Preferred:

  1. Clinical counselling/consultation experience in a healthcare environment
  2. Masters Degree in Social Work or other counselling related discipline
  3. Ability to speak French
