General Motors CAMI Assembly is Canada’s first, all-electric vehicle assembly plant. The Role

We are currently looking for you to take on the role of Chassis/Propulsion QE Lead based out of our CAMI Assembly plant. In this role, you will be responsible for driving quality improvements in internal & external metrics, which includes electrical First Time Quality (eFTQ), Direct Run Rate (DRR), Global Customer Audit (GCA) and Warranty / Voice of Customer (VOC). You will focus on supplier and engineering-related problems that impede assembling our vehicles or compromise its performance in the field. A considerable amount of creativity and initiative is necessary, as well as a high level of independent judgement.

The ability to:

1. Manage daily project requests and prioritize and delegate work.
2. Develop quick containments with robust long-term solutions to different problems as they arise.
3. Home in on the root-cause through quick, efficient problem-solving.
4. Navigate complexity without getting bogged down.
5. Present the Assembly Plant and Engineering Staff with clear problem definition, technical guidance on complex problems, and regular updates on progress.
6. Support launch of new products in the plant when applicable.
7. Support off-shifts as required.

What You'll Do

1. Successfully manage multiple projects with broad scope and varying degrees of difficulty.
2. Fix supplier quality and engineering issues impacting GCA, Direct Run Rate and Warranty.
3. Participate in CPIT meetings and drive Warranty, Cost & Efficiency Improvement Initiatives.
4. Solve problems using Red X and other tools as applicable.
5. Develop quality standards and procedures for the plant.
6. Manage emerging issues on commodities you have responsibility for.
7. Assist production teams in preventing defects and recommend process improvements.
8. Work with Launch Team on new vehicle builds.
9. Collaborate with suppliers on SPPSs and ensure robust corrective action.
10. Share lessons learned with Engineering to prevent repeat design or build issues.
11. Review nonconforming parts and sub-assemblies for proper initial disposition and root cause.
12. Coordinate periodic system and process audits at the plant and supplier facilities.
13. Support quality evaluation of new vehicles with engineering and production.
14. Coordinate engineering change implementation. Assist in running PTRs (Production Trial Run).

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

1. Bachelors degree in Engineering in a related field and/or equivalent experience.
2. Strong Engineering background.
3. Minimum 5 years of experience as a Design Release Engineer, Quality Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineer, Process Engineer, or Reliability Engineer.
4. Independent judgment in managing complex and ambiguous tasks with minimal input from supervisor.
5. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to lead diverse/cross-functional teams.
6. Effective communicator with solid oral and written presentation skills.

What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

1. 3-5 years experience of leading teams.
2. High level of analytical ability, leadership and communication skills.
3. Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required, with ability to handle complex scenarios, and prioritize multiple issues.
4. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and how to read and interpret 2D and 3D renderings.
5. Strong decision-making ability.
6. Red-X or OPEX Certification.
