We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Proposal Manager to join our team in Edmonton, AB. Reporting to the VP of Business Development, this role is critical in managing and coordinating strategic proposals that align with our company's growth objectives. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing multidisciplinary proposals across engineering, scientific, or related fields. They will be detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, self-disciplined, process-oriented, and excel in interpersonal communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end proposal development process, ensuring all submissions are comprehensive, accurate, and strategically aligned with client requirements and company goals.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather and develop proposal content. Ensure technical content is tailored to address client needs and evaluation criteria while maintaining clarity and persuasiveness.
  • Own the editing and proofreading process, ensuring all proposals are polished, compelling, and free of errors. Maintain high standards of consistency, grammar, spelling, and formatting.
  • In consultation with our Graphic Design Lead, incorporate graphic design elements to enhance the visual appeal and effectiveness of proposals, ensuring complex information is communicated clearly through visuals.
  • Review proposals for compliance with RFP requirements and company standards. Implement and maintain a rigorous version control process.
  • Provide strategic input during the proposal development process, leveraging industry knowledge to shape winning proposals.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Scientists, and other stakeholders to ensure proposals are cohesive and meet submission deadlines.
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of best practice guides, templates, and proposal development tools. Update the Proposal Preparation intranet site to ensure resources are current and accessible.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends and best practices in proposal development, ensuring Tetra Tech remains competitive in the marketplace.
  • Assist in general business development and marketing activities, including conferences, tradeshows, and client presentations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, English, or a related field. Certifications in proposal or project management (APMP, CAPM, PMP) considered an asset.
  • A minimum of 7 years experience in proposal development, with at least 2 years in a Proposal Management role. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience with Engineering, Construction, or Professional Services firms.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to translate technical material into clear, influential, and client-focused language.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint). Preference will be given to candidates who are also proficient with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Understanding and familiarity with emerging AI tools and their application in proposal development and writing.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple proposals simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and personalities.

Additional Information

A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada without sponsorship (a copy of a valid work permit may be required).

To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions.
