We are recruiting for a Property Maintenance Technician to perform efficient and effective maintenance and repair duties to ensure all Agency owned properties and vehicles are maintained in good order. This is a 3-month contract position with the possibility of extension.

Compensation Package :

  • Work up to 37.5 hours per week;
  • Minimum starting rate of pay is $33.83 per hour;
  • 11 paid statutory holidays;

Minimum requirements of this position include :

  • Completion of Grade 12, with additional related training certification equivalent to community college certification;
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in building maintenance, with skills in: carpentry, drywall, roofing, painting, landscaping, aluminum work, cabinet installation, minor plumbing, electrical and minor HVAC System repairs;
  • Ability to read and understand construction working drawings; experienced in the use of small power tools; knowledgeable of relevant legislation, current building practices and skilled trades; skilled at towing a utility trailer of varying sizes and styles;
  • A trade certificate is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD is an asset;
  • Certification and experience in water sampling is an asset;
  • Knowledge of minor vehicle repairs and vehicle maintenance is an asset;

Duties and responsibilities (including, but not limited to) :

  • Carry out regular property inspections to identify potential issues;
  • Carry out preventative repair and maintenance to properties as required;
  • Receive, prioritize, and take appropriate action for maintenance repair requests;
  • Assign repairs and maintenance to appropriate trades as required;
  • Conduct water sampling in accordance with Ontario Water Resources Act;
  • Assist with landscaping, ice and snow removal as required;
  • Ensure ongoing documentation is maintained for reporting and future planning purposes;
  • Report any and all emergencies in the case of faults with gas, electrical and water supply to appropriate trade and supervisor;
  • Perform other maintenance duties as assigned (i.e., exterior building maintenance, signage, picture hanging, supply shopping, etc.);

Special factors of this position :

  • Must be prepared to work flexible hours as required;
  • Must have a valid Class G driver's License and own reliable transportation;
