Property Coordinator 1

Annual salary: $58,100.00 - 63,800.00

What you'll do

  • Examine, research, and analyze requests and proposals from internal and external sources regarding existing or new BC Hydro property interests and make decisions if the proposal/request warrants further technical and engineering review.
  • Review legal terms and conditions of BC Hydro’s property interests, search titles, review maps, plans, legal surveys, etc. in order to make decisions. Prepare recommendations for review by higher level staff or management.
  • Acquire (secure) and renew Crown Land tenures in support of BC Hydro’s operational requirements; review, negotiate, and coordinate fees, costs, and ensure documentation is in accordance with BC Hydro’s standards.
  • Independently prepare standard documents related to the acquisition, disposition, lease, and management of BC Hydro’s property interests. Draft non-standard clauses for review by Property Coordinator 2’s and/or Legal Services.
  • Perform field checks and inspections of BC Hydro fee owned properties and rights of way related to proposals/requests and permitted uses granted by BC Hydro.
  • Provide management services for BC Hydro properties including: arranging for advertisement for leases, sales or rentals; monitoring sales completion and lease renewal dates; reviewing tenant applications; responding to tenant issues; issuing rental invoices; and initiating collection action if necessary.
  • Prepare financial documents and reports including Expenditure Authorization Requests (EARs), Payment Requisitions, etc. in support of various Property functions.
  • Maintain, manage, and update several property related databases.
  • Provide province-wide Properties Help Desk service, answering requests for Properties information and services; handle contentious trouble calls and rush inquiries from members of the public over property issues.
  • Perform duties of a minor nature related to the above duties that do not affect the rating of the job.

What you bring

  • College Certificate program as a Legal Administrative Assistant; AND/OR completion of 25% of the Diploma in Urban Land Economics, Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI), Senior Right of Way Professional (SR/WA) or Certified Leasing Officer (CLO).
  • One (1) year of practical Real Estate Properties or property legal experience with the exception of those who have completed the educational requirements of the Paralegal Diploma or Bachelor of Legal Studies (Paralegal) Degree.
  • Well-developed oral, written, teamwork, and interpersonal skills are required.

This position's primary focus is to prepare and register statutory right of way documents for BC Hydro’s distribution assets on private and Crown land, in order to ensure that BC Hydro has the ability to operate and maintain its electrical distribution system.

  • This position will be posted concurrently.
  • This is a full-time temporary role for approximately 12 months.
