Job description

As a property and casualty insurance agent at Enterprises, you help serve, prospect for, solicit, and develop and maintain business relationships with members and clients. You help sell general insurance products and services through multiple distribution channels based on member/client needs and current strategies and practices. You promote and sell property and casualty coverage to business clients. You serve members and clients, analyze their needs, and use your persuasive skills to help them choose the right coverage. You meet sales goals and member/client needs and expectations while ensuring member/client satisfaction. You help develop and maintain personal business relationships that have development potential for your sector. You help develop solutions using your analytical skills and discipline-specific knowledge. The ability to learn quickly and use technology effectively is essential. You advise and assist current and potential members and clients. You represent Desjardins and enter the organization into important agreements with clients. You also have many opportunities to establish and negotiate product and service terms. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Serve members and clients, assess their needs, analyze risks, promote insurance products and help members and clients choose coverage.
  • Prepare quotes and issue insurance contracts.
  • Analyze special underwriting files and make recommendations to practitioners.
  • Respond to information requests, amend and renew contracts, and follow up as needed.
  • Develop business partnerships to generate referrals.

What you bring to the table:

  • College diploma in a related field.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience.
  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Representative’s certificate in damage insurance (AMF).
  • Knowledge of French is required.
  • Strong communication skills in both French and English, both oral and written due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members, and/or clients.
  • Available to work evenings and Saturdays as on-call.
