Aecon Nuclear currently is undertaking efforts to replace key components at the Darlington and Bruce Power plants as a part of each respective Life Extension Program to allow operation for another 40+ years. The scope of work includes the removal and replacement of calandria tubes, pressure tubes, feeders, and steam generators as well as technical development, construction management and trade labour.

Aecon Nuclear is also currently at the forefront of the next generation of Nuclear Power in Canada developing the construction plan and manufacturing details for the new SMR facility in Darlington, new build CANDU reactors among other exciting nuclear industry efforts.

The Project Procurement Manager reports directly to the Aecon Nuclear Procurement Manager and is responsible for establishing the overall strategy and programs for procurement warehousing, materials and subcontractor management in close cooperation with other partners of the Alliance. The Project Procurement Lead ensures that the project is fully supported from a procurement standpoint in an integrated, efficient and cost effective manner.

What You'll Do Here

  • Lead and manage the full procurement lifecycle to support the overall success of procurement activities for the Pickering Steam Generator Replacement project.
  • Engage in early demand planning, develop a procurement plan in support of the full project lifecycle, including the tendering process, market solicitation, and negotiation of procurement of equipment, material & components as well as Nuclear safety related materials & components primarily for use in Nuclear Power Plants in Canada.
  • Review purchase requisitions and related documentation for clarity and completeness regarding materials, components or equipment.
  • Provide technical expertise for issuance of standard and quality related Request for Quotation (RFQ’s) to qualified vendors based on Aecon’s Approved Suppliers List (ASL).
  • Assist the Procurement Manager in developing project specific procurement plans.
  • Negotiate major contracts for best price, delivery, terms of payment and purchase conditions.
  • Assist in developing and implementing detailed strategies for procurement, including cost reduction strategies.
  • Set standards and expectations for procurement across the project.
  • Achieve productivity and performance related goals for the team and projects.
  • Ensure quality, reliability and responsiveness to operational needs.
  • Accountability to ensure internal clients are serviced beyond normal business hours.
  • Ensure training on the Aecon Quality assurance manual is accurate and up to date.
  • Provide standardized reporting for the Procurement functional area.
  • Oversee management and implementation of the procurement process ensuring adherence to applicable law, ethical practice and company policies and procedures.

What You Bring To The Team

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Procurement, with at least 5 years on a construction project.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a leadership/management role.
  • Extensive familiarity with Procurement/Materials Programs and processes.
  • Familiarity with EPCM project lifecycle and specialized equipment manufacturing.
  • Experience handling large and complex purchases and bid calls.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in the Nuclear Industry is an asset.
