We are currently hiring a Project Process Engineer to join the team at our mechanical evaporation facility in Unity, Saskatchewan.

Located in the western part of Saskatchewan, Compass Minerals’ Unity Mechanical Evaporation Plant is one of the company’s four mechanical evaporation plants. The plant produces and packages a wide variety of salt products including water conditioning salt, bulk salt, food-grade salt and salt for agriculture. The Unity Evaporation Plant is located in a friendly community of 2,500 that loves hockey and curling, situated in the beautiful big-sky prairies, an hour from North Battleford and a 2-hour drive from Saskatoon. Overview: Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position is primarily responsible for Project and Process Engineering at the Unity Plant.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Project engineering and management.
  • Manage small to medium capital projects from development to implementation.
  • Develop strategies to implement equipment reliability through Reliable Asset Management (RAM) and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM).
  • Develop ideas to improve profitability through cost savings and new opportunities.
  • Support the development and analysis of the annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and strategic plans.
  • Demonstrate strong planning skills in relation to new projects.
  • Liaise with Government departments as needed regarding Unity Plant Operations.
  • Maintain/Update Capital Expenditure Tracking Spreadsheets for monthly reporting purposes.
  • Ability to develop relationships with Maintenance, Boiler Evaporator and Operations employees and involve those individuals in project planning and communication.
  • Ability to fairly negotiate technically related terms and conditions with Suppliers/Contractors and maintain a positive relationship.

Qualifications - What should you bring to the role?

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • 4-10 years’ experience in manufacturing.
  • At least 2 years in project management involving cross functional teams.
  • At least 2 years in leading equipment/process reliability programs.
  • Previous experience in food processing or high-speed packaging facility.
  • Previous experience in data analysis/management.
  • Excellent English communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Must demonstrate initiative and be detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.

What is the work schedule?

  • This is a Monday-Friday onsite role.
  • If you do not live nearby, you will be required to relocate (mention relocation agreement if applicable to the position).
