PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Project Principal for Major Projects is accountable for the leadership, planning, management, and successful delivery of large-scale, high-priority capital project(s) that support transit expansion and broader organizational goals. Serving as the TransLink Representative, the Project Principal engages with both internal teams and key external stakeholders, providing leadership on critical project(s). Operating within established governance structures, the Project Principal ensures that major project(s) are delivered on time and within scope, maintaining transparency, accountability, and alignment with the organization's strategic priorities. This role also focuses on driving continuous improvement in project delivery processes and contributes significantly to strengthening the enterprise’s overall project management capability, particularly in handling major capital projects and utilizing alternative procurement models.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
University bachelor’s degree in engineering, Planning, Project Management or related areas.
Requires a minimum of ten (10) years including progressive levels of project management accountability in an agency specializing in planning or transportation.
OR
An equivalent combination of training and experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Expert knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, methods and techniques pertaining to project management and construction management of major infrastructure projects. Specialized expertise in transportation services and transport infrastructure will be considered an asset.
Experience working on major capital projects with alternative procurement models e.g. Design-Build, Alliance, Construction Management at Risk, Integrated Project Delivery etc. will be considered an asset.
Expert interpersonal and communication skills to provide specialized expertise, advice, guidance and influence on project teams; and to engage in complex, high profile external processes with agencies, stakeholders, and partners.
Knowledge of TransLink’s vision, mission and values, long term strategy, and strategic priorities and their implications for regional planning; and of organizational structure and the implications for leading processes and change.
Expert skills in critical/integrated thinking.
The Project Principal, Major Projects will be accountable for the leadership, planning, management, and successful delivery of large-scale, high priority capital project(s) that supports transit expansion and broader organizational goals. Serving as the TransLink Representative, the Project Principal will manage internal teams and key external stakeholders, providing leadership on critical project(s) being delivered by Translink such as the Operations and Maintenance Center 4 (OMC4), Marpole Transit Center and the Port Coquitlam Transit Center among other major projects.
37.5 hours per week.

This position offers the flexibility of working both on-site and remotely within B.C.
Salary $117,600 - $176,400 per annum (Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity).
