Project Manager - Lead

Prime Boiler Services (PBS) is seeking a Project Manager for their growing Project Management Office (PMO).

About the Role

As the PM Lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of our PMO by overseeing project management processes, mentoring Project Managers, and driving continuous improvement. You will not only manage projects but also lead the team in implementing best practices in areas such as change order management, Cost Performance Index (CPI) and Schedule Performance Index (SPI) calculations, risk escalation, and overall project efficiency. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact by fostering a culture of excellence and accountability within the PMO.

This position is based in Red Deer, AB and due to the nature of the role, will require in-person attendance daily.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Mentorship:
• Guide and support Project Managers in adhering to project management processes.
• Provide training on PM methodologies and tools to ensure consistent execution.
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
• Project Management Excellence:
• Oversee project planning, execution, and delivery across the lifecycle.
• Ensure proper change order management and track CPI/SPI metrics for performance evaluation.
• Identify inefficiencies in processes and present improvements to enhance productivity.
• Risk Management & Escalation:
• Proactively identify potential risks and escalate them to your direct manager as needed.
• Implement approved mitigation strategies to ensure project goals are met.
• Process Optimization:
• Drive continuous improvement in PMO processes or develop new ones as required.
• Audit project documentation for consistency and compliance with PMO standards.
• Stakeholder Communication:
• Act as a key liaison between internal teams, external stakeholders, and clients.
• Provide regular updates to senior management on project progress, risks, and outcomes.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a dynamic leader with strong technical expertise in project management processes and exceptional interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have:

• Education & Experience:
• PMP Certified
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in project management with leadership responsibilities.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Projects or equivalent software.
• Strong understanding of CPI/SPI calculations and other performance metrics.
• Familiarity with change order management processes and risk escalation protocols.
• Leadership Qualities:
• Proven ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and inspire others.
• Other Competencies:
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while respecting reporting structures.
