POSITION TITLE: Project Manager – Facilities and Infrastructure

Location: Collingwood, Barrie, Owen Sound, or Sudbury, ON

MacLean Engineering is looking for an energetic Project Manager – Facilities and Infrastructure to add to the existing skills of our Engineering Operations team. About the Position: The Project Manager – Facilities and Infrastructure oversees and coordinates all aspects of new construction projects, facilities upgrades and plant power systems - evaluating and implementing potential alternative energy sources for energy savings and reduction of GHG emissions. Managing Project tasks from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards in accordance with the goals and objectives of the organization. The following proficiencies are required:

  1. Self-Starter capable of providing leadership, mentoring, problem solving and guidance for multiple ongoing projects.
  2. Planning, coordinating and managing all phases of construction and facilities upgrade projects from greenfield sites, owned and leased properties, facility expansions and upgrades, including project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and closeout.
  3. Establishing the project objectives, scope and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders and ensuring alignment with goals of the organization.
  4. Liaising with facility stakeholders as well as architects, engineers, contractors and subcontractors to monitor construction progress, resolve issues and ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  5. Research, evaluate and implement alternative energy opportunities for new and existing facilities with the goal to meet MacLean real zero emissions targets for 2040.
  6. Develop and manage project schedules, budgets and resource allocations to ensure cost efficiency and timely delivery.
  7. Managing procurement processes, including bid evaluations, contract negotiations and vendor selection.
  8. Evaluating facility power and heating systems for potential alternative energy sources with the view toward zero emissions targets.
  9. Oversee project budgeting and cost control and manage change orders to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
  10. Conducting regular site inspections to assess project progress, identify risks, and ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  11. Maintain effective communication with project team members and stakeholders to provide project updates, address concerns and foster strong working relationships. Responsible for ensuring delivery of projects will be on-time and on-budget by identifying, managing and report any risks or impacts.
  12. Working with project teams to manage changes to the project scope, identify scope creep with impact on the project schedule or costs as well as measure project performance using appropriate verification tools and techniques.
  13. Manage and maintain project schedule and communications with internal and external stakeholders during the life of the project.
  14. Collaborate with others to analyze and change internal processes as required to improve project delivery.
  15. Analyze, source and specify potential new capital equipment requirements for factory production for implementation of new processes and upgrades or additions to existing processes for improved efficiency.
  16. Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation. Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared between MacLean departments.
  17. Demonstrate and continually develop leadership skills.
  18. Attend conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency and to retain or achieve PMP designation as required.
  19. Develop reporting tools for projects to provide concise updates to management and project teams on a regular basis.
  20. Provide input into strategic plans, capabilities and risk/opportunity analysis for the continued expansion of MacLean facilities.
  21. Travel, both domestic and internationally, may be a requirement of this position. Visits to key locations in conjunction with product development projects may be required.
  22. Provide on-going feedback to Senior Management.
  23. Other related duties as assigned by Senior Management.
About You: The successful candidate(s) must be willing to learn, open-minded and flexible, organized and detail oriented, team oriented, disciplined, and must have a positive attitude, along with the following qualifications:

  1. Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or related discipline
  2. Eight or more (8+) years’ experience in Project Management, Construction Management and/or related disciplines required
  3. Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset
  4. Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, and safety regulations
  5. Experience with alternative energy sources
  6. Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
  7. High level of computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office, particularly MS Project and PowerPoint
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  9. Bilingualism is an asset (French and/or Spanish are desirable)
