Your Opportunity

Dillon is a well-established, employee-owned professional consulting firm operating across Canada and internationally. We provide a wide range of consulting and design services related to the infrastructure, real estate, resource, industrial, and government sectors in Canada and abroad. We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Project Manager within our Natural Resource Management group in our Vancouver office.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

Project Management & Technical Development

  1. Support Senior Project Managers and staff with expertise in the fields of aquatic ecology, marine ecosystems, and/or aquatic species at risk.
  2. Lead the scoping, development, cost controls, and execution of environmental investigations, environmental management programs and plans including research, field work, and technical report writing as Project Manager.
  3. Demonstrate leadership in health and safety in project delivery.
  4. Support the development of environmental assessments, compensation/offsetting plans, and related environmental regulatory permitting assignments at the provincial and federal levels.
  5. Scope, plan, develop, and implement field programs for a variety of biological, natural resource, municipal, land development, and linear infrastructure projects.
  6. Demonstrate leadership and coordination of staff across operating business units.
  7. Lead the development and submission of proposals (budget development and proposal writing).
  8. Liaise with public and private sector clients, government review and approval agencies, sub-consultants, and community representatives including Indigenous communities.
  9. Coordinate project team activities, provide direction to project team members, and contribute to development of staff.
  10. Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff including technical writing and leading field programs.
  11. Lead permitting and approvals acquisition activities at the local, provincial, and federal level related to natural heritage (e.g., Endangered Species Act, Species at Risk Act, Conservation Authorities Act, Fisheries Act, Canadian Environmental Assessment Act).

Business Development

  1. Build client relationships through identifying market opportunities, client communications, preparation of proposals, and business development activities.
  2. Present at, and participate in, conferences, technical workshops, webinars, and professional associations to raise the Dillon profile in the business community and among peers.
  3. Collaborate with staff across Canada for the purposes of project delivery, client relationship development, and opportunity/project research.

Learning & Development

  2. Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching, and mentoring.
  3. Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.

Qualifications

  1. An undergraduate or graduate degree in biology, ecology, or a related environmental field.
  2. A professional designation or eligibility to obtain (R.P.Bio., P.Ag., BIT).
  3. A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated professional experience in environmental consulting, industrial, regulatory, or academic setting or related field.
  4. Valid driver’s license (Class 5).

Experience

  1. Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  2. Excitement and willingness to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary, cross-jurisdictional team environment.
  3. Understanding of field sampling methods and sample collection with demonstrated ability to lead a team conducting aquatic, marine, with components of terrestrial, riparian, wildlife, or species at risk assessments.
  4. In-depth knowledge of relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations, policies, guidelines, and regulatory permitting and approval requirements gained through formal studies or practical experience.
  5. Familiarity with environmental compliance and industry best practices including mitigation measures for construction projects.
  6. Experience leading the preparation of regulatory applications and submissions including liaising with regulators, stakeholders, industry representatives, and Indigenous communities.
  7. Demonstrated success in project management and client relationship skills.
  8. Excellent oral and written communication, critical thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The ability to multi-task and manage concurrent tasks with overlapping timelines is considered an asset.
  9. Strong data management and analysis skills.
  10. Commitment to project quality, safety, and capability of meeting project deadlines.

Compensation

$87,794 - $105,000

Dillon includes the salary range that we in good faith believe may offer for this position, and is dependent on the successful applicant’s education, experience, and skills, in addition to internal equity and geographic region. Dillon reserves the right to pay outside of the posted range, contingent on factors unrelated to an applicant’s gender or other status protected by provincial and/or federal law.
