Job description

The Project Manager ensures the successful execution of analytical programs, maintains excellent client relationships, and supports operational growth in their region. This role demands high-quality client service, project management expertise, and adherence to safety and compliance protocols.

Specific Responsibilities:

Client Project Management

  • Coordinate medium to large client accounts/projects, including sample submissions and bottle orders.
  • Prepare, verify, and ship sample bottles and preservatives according to client needs.
  • Track projects via LIMS, providing proactive updates on status or delays.
  • Process return shipments for laboratory supplies and ensure inventory control.
  • Organize data, reports, and invoicing revisions, ensuring client-specific requirements are met.

Client Relationship Management

  • Welcome clients and couriers to the sample receiving area, offering excellent customer service.
  • Meet with clients to maintain relationships, elicit feedback, and ensure project satisfaction.
  • Provide technical advice on analytical methods and regulatory compliance.
  • Support promotional activities, including demonstrations, conferences, and client appreciation events.
  • Train and mentor junior staff within the client services team.
  • Collaborate with laboratory, sales, and office staff to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Manage workload distribution, ensuring department goals for turnaround time are met.

Operational and Administrative Support

  • Receive, unpack, and verify client samples, ensuring proper labeling and organization.
  • Maintain and update client account information and regional stock counts.
  • Perform building maintenance and ensure the cleanliness of sample receiving areas.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure adherence to analytical quality standards.

Safety and Compliance

  • Comply with ALS health and safety regulations, identifying and addressing any safety concerns.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform tasks under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations at provincial and federal levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and general computer applications.
  • Capable of physical tasks, such as lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, and standing for long periods.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.Sc. or Technical Diploma in a science-related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in environmental services or customer service roles.
  • Valid provincial driver’s license with access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with high accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands:

  • Regular lifting, carrying, bending, and kneeling during shifts.
  • Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks.
  • Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves, etc., when required.
  • Ability to stand for a full shift.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities.
