Job description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Project Manager to oversee and coordinate multiple large-scale multifamily construction projects in Canmore, Alberta. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management within the construction industry, particularly multifamily developments, with the ability to lead teams, manage timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. As the key point of contact for all project stakeholders, you will drive the success of each project from planning through to completion, maintaining high-quality standards and ensuring safety and compliance across all sites.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Coordination

  • Develop and implement detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets for multiple multi-family construction sites across Canmore and Calgary.
  • Coordinate and manage the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with project goals, timelines, and budget constraints.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, legal, and regulatory requirements specific to the Canmore and Calgary regions.

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Lead and manage cross-functional teams across multiple construction sites in Canmore and Calgary.
  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure work is progressing according to plan, with high-quality standards and in adherence to timelines.
  • Resolve on-site issues, conflicts, or challenges in a timely and efficient manner, maintaining a collaborative work environment.

Budget and Cost Management

  • Develop and manage detailed project budgets for each site.
  • Track project expenses, review invoices, and approve payments to contractors and vendors.
  • Implement cost-saving strategies and manage resources efficiently to stay within budget.

Scheduling & Resource Management

  • Develop and manage project schedules for multiple sites in Canmore and Calgary.
  • Coordinate the allocation of resources across construction sites, ensuring each project has the necessary manpower and materials to stay on track.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying potential delays or issues and addressing them proactively.

Construction Software Implementation & Management

  • Implement and manage construction project management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, MS Project) across all sites to track progress, budgets, and schedules.
  • Train and support team members in the use of construction software, ensuring efficient adoption and integration on all projects.

Safety & Risk Management

  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure that all construction sites operate in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner, adhering to Alberta's safety regulations.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of safety protocols and ensure all team members are properly trained.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including progress reports, meeting notes, and project deliverables.
  • Provide regular status updates to senior management and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all required paperwork (permits, contracts, inspections, etc.) is completed and filed appropriately for each project.

Qualifications

  • Education:Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:7+ years of experience in managing large-scale construction projects, particularly multi-family developments.
  • Multi-site Management:Proven experience managing multiple construction sites simultaneously, especially in Canmore and Calgary or similar markets.
  • Industry Knowledge:In-depth knowledge of construction processes, project management principles, and industry standards.
  • Leadership Skills:Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams effectively.
  • Problem-solving:Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on efficient and effective project delivery.
  • Software Proficiency:Proficiency with construction project management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, MS Project).
  • Financial Acumen:Strong financial management skills with experience handling project budgets and schedules.
  • Certifications:Construction Safety Training (e.g., NCSO, OSHA) is an asset. PMP or other project management certifications are a plus.
  • Travel:A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel between project sites in Canmore and Calgary as required.
