Description:

St. Francis Memorial Hospital is a 20-bed, fully accredited facility, offering medical, and complex continuing care. A two-bed hospice is directly down the hall from our inpatient unit. The hospital has an extensive ambulatory care program with over 10,000 emergency visits per year and a six‐station satellite hemodialysis unit.

St. Francis Memorial Hospital is redeveloping its emergency department and ambulatory care department to better serve our rural community.

We currently have an opportunity for atemporary, full-time Project Manager for construction and redevelopment, working Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, with flexibility of work hours expected. The redevelopment project is anticipated to take 30 months beginning October 2024. The successful candidate must be available for the assignment of on-call responsibilities in order to respond to and resolve after-hours emergencies as they arise.

The Project Manager will liaise with internal and external stakeholders to provide expert advice on building technology, design and construction processes and procedures to deliver the successful completion of the hospital’s redevelopment projects. The Project Manager is responsible for coordinating capital projects from defining the scope of work with users and, the development of budgets, planning, project coordination and project execution for occupancy by end users.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the scope and implementation of construction and redevelopment projects reflect the needs of the hospital while ensuring compliance with building codes, healthcare design standards and other legislation.
  • Represent the hospital during all phases of project implementation to ensure that the project remains on budget and on schedule.
  • Work with architects, engineers, contractors and hospital staff.
  • Identify risks, analyze risk impacts and make recommendations to mitigate risks.
  • Ensuring the scope of work aligns with the master plan
  • Updating and monitoring budgets, project schedules and other planning documents
  • Participate in the project tendering phase with consultants
  • Coordinate with contractors for shutdowns and access to site
  • Track and report progress to completion
  • Prepare Ontario Ministry of Health submissions
Qualifications
  • A degree in project management, engineering, or architecture is preferred; an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of three years of project management experience.
  • Experience in managing project schedule, budget and project changes.
  • Detailed understanding of construction methods and processes.
  • Experience in a clinical hospital setting is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of Onario Ministry of Health project delivery methods is an asset.
  • On-site construction review/inspection experience is an asset.
  • Experience in reading and understanding construction plans and specifications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building codes and other related codes, standards and legislation.
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in identifying and analyzing situations and problems, finding viable solutions with consideration to total systems and strategies.
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Excel, Word, MS Project, AutoCAD
