Job Title: Project Leader - Academic Initiatives

Status: Permanent Full-Time
Hours Per Week: 37.50 hours
Pay Rate: $46.08/hr - Payband K

The Project Leader leads the comprehensive planning, delivery, evaluation, and reporting of academic initiatives, including the coordination of internal employees and resources with external funders, to ensure alignment with institutional priorities and funder requirements. The incumbent will research revenue opportunities and develop funding proposals for projects aligned with Canadore’s strategic goals. Responsibilities include analyzing project fit, consulting with academic leadership, assessing participant roles, preparing budgets, and collaborating with stakeholders. The role requires writing comprehensive proposals in response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to secure funding. The incumbent will work closely with academic leads, faculty, staff, external resources, and industry committees.
Qualifications:
- 4-year Degree in a related field and additional credential(s) in writing, project management or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with progressive responsibility
- Experience in a post-secondary environment is an asset
- Proven experience working with outside agencies and stakeholders in a leadership capacity
- Advanced skills in project management
- Superior writing skills with demonstrated success in proposal writing
- Exceptional research skills including (but not limited to) the use of academic publications, applied research publications, and statistical data
- Strong technology skills including (but not limited to) the use of a learning management system
- Demonstrated skills in program design, development, and delivery
Responsibilities:
- Lead the comprehensive planning, delivery, evaluation, and reporting of academic initiatives
- Represent the College as a liaison coordinating with internal departments and external parties
- Analyze project scope and deliverables, design project plans, allocate tasks and timelines, manage budgets, and support the team in meeting project deliverables
- Develop learning materials for traditional and tech-enhanced delivery, consult with Subject Matter Experts, apply instructional design principles, and create interactive activities
- Write, proof, and edit materials; implement pilot testing; evaluate results and complete necessary revisions
- Negotiate contracts with external funders and service providers
- Research potential revenue opportunities and develop proposals to secure funding for projects or initiatives
- Interpret project goals and quantify deliverables; identify potential participants and their roles; develop time and cost projections; research relevant data; collaborate with internal and external parties; author proposals in response to RFPs
- Develop and monitor project budgets to ensure alignment with funding requirements; participate in project-related purchasing and procurement activities; track expenditures and control costs within budget limits; prepare financial reports and updates for stakeholders, including funding bodies
- Organize and support information workshops on funding requirements, project management practices, and compliance
- Act as a resource on the activities and policies of MCU, MLITSD, Government of Canada, OCI/OVIN, OCQAS/CVS, and other funding agencies
