Purpose:

We are looking for a Project Engineering Manager to join us in either our Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver office.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams, on key projects, in the oil & gas sector, and within an EPCM environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and manage engineering team execution on major/large-scale projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives, safety, quality, cost, and schedule.
  2. Oversee multi-disciplinary engineering teams, coordinating across all engineering disciplines to deliver integrated and technically sound designs.
  3. Provide technical and leadership support throughout all phases of the project lifecycle—from project definition and proposal development to detailed engineering and commissioning.
  4. Ensure engineering deliverables meet applicable codes, standards, regulations (including APEGA), and client specifications.
  5. Interface regularly with project management, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure alignment and seamless project execution.
  6. Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment, mentoring engineers and supporting professional development.
  7. Act as a primary engineering point of contact for internal stakeholders, clients, and third parties.

Technical and Industry Experience:

  1. Extensive project engineering management experience on high-value oil & gas capital projects. Specific experience is SAGD and/or gas processing project is ideal.
  2. Comprehensive understanding of project execution, project management and project control methodologies.
  3. Full life cycle project management experience (FEED to Commissioning).
  4. Comprehensive understanding of the project life cycle for high-value gas processing and/or in-situ heavy oil projects.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Strong people skills supported by effective decision making and influential negotiation skills.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

  1. A recognized and relevant engineering degree.
  2. Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, and/or equivalent industry experience.
  3. Leadership experience with a proven ability to manage and provide oversight to key capital oil & gas capital projects.
  4. Must have an active practicing registration with APEGA or EGBC and the ability to become a responsible member of the company permit if trained and approved.
