About the Company - Our valued client, a key Oil & Gas Midstream company, is seeking a Project Engineer to join their Calgary team on a long-term contract basis (2 Years to start).


About the Role - Responsibilities include and are not limited to:


  1. Reporting to the Supervisor, Project Engineering, this individual will be an experienced Project Engineer that will support one or more Project Manager(s) in project execution.
  2. Part of interdisciplinary team working on Facilities Project.
  3. Understand and translate business requirements into effective project execution and construction strategies.
  4. Ensure projects are delivered within the approved business case commitments (cost, schedule, functionality, throughput, and reliability).
  5. Ensure that projects satisfy all corporate safety, technical, operational, commercial, maintenance, and quality requirements as defined in our specifications, standards, and practices.
  6. Coordinate and manage external engineering consultants and contractors for the execution of design, procurement of materials and equipment, construction, and commissioning of pipeline facilities.
  7. Coordinate applicable Regulatory, Land, First Nations, and Environmental applications related to the construction of pipeline facilities.
  8. Create or manage the creation of scoping documents, project plans, drawings, RFP, RFI, equipment specification, purchase requisitions, contracts, and operating narratives.
  9. Prepare Consultant Work Requests to direct the services of construction contractors and engineering service providers.
  10. Review engineering documents prepared by EPC consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  11. Promote and embody a culture of Safety Starts with Me.
  12. Work within Project Delivery Governance Lifecycle (PDGL) to achieve gate approval across the full project lifecycle.
  13. Collaborate with project controls resources to establish cost estimates, schedules, forecasting, accruals, earned value measurement, progress targets, and any other activities required to properly manage projects.
  14. Apply proactive contract management methods to ensure contractors successfully fulfill the requirements of the contract with an absence of claims or disputes.
  15. Identify, analyze, and actively manage and mitigate risks on projects.
  16. Support project implementation through Management of Change (MOC) process.
  17. Act as an SME in areas of expertise and help to develop and champion initiatives of continuous improvement within these areas.
  18. Support an Inclusive & Diverse workplace.
  19. Support Project and Program reporting requirements.

Qualifications


  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (technical diploma in related fields will be considered if the candidate has extensive related project management experience).
  2. Minimum 8 to 12 years of relevant experience in engineering/project management experience.
  3. Technical knowledge of liquids pipeline hydraulics, pumps, tanks, metering, quality control, and instrumentation equipment, pipelines, and related equipment is an asset.
  4. Effective project leader with the ability to organize, influence, problem solve, present, and communicate effectively.
  5. Self-directed and capable of prioritizing competing commitments within a continuously changing climate, instilling confidence while creating strong relationships quickly.
  6. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a constructive and collaborative approach to conflict resolution.
  7. Field experience including experience with pipeline and facility construction and facility operations is an asset.
  8. Design experience working for an Engineering and Procurement firm is considered an asset.
  9. Commitment to continuously act in an environmentally and socially conscientious manner to maintain the dependability, integrity, and safety of Company’s work sites and systems.
  10. Thorough knowledge of relevant technical standards, safety codes, and regulatory requirements applied in Alberta/British Columbia for petrochemical, pumping, processing, and storage facilities.
  11. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with field operations staff to develop and implement solutions.
  12. Strong problem-solving, organizational, report writing, and verbal communication skills along with presentation capabilities.
  13. Driven, results-oriented individual who naturally takes responsibility for setting the standard and achieving results.

  15. Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset.
  16. Based in our Calgary Office (Mon-Thurs, optional work from home Friday), you will be required to travel periodically to the project areas.
