Are you a talented Project Engineer passionate about site investigation, condition assessment, remedial design and innovative engineering?

GBG Group is a market leader in structural and geophysical site investigation. A privately owned engineering specialist offering bespoke building remediation investigation, testing and consultancy services on historical and modern buildings across the UK and internationally.

We’re seeking a proactive Project Engineer to join our team at Watford, helping us to investigate structures, protect buildings and preserve monuments throughout their life cycle.

The GBG Group provides forensic engineering consultancy, inspection, testing and analysis of structures, buildings and infrastructure, including geotechnical evaluation, structural performance and remedial design.

About the Role:

As a Project Engineer, you'll be at the heart of our operations, working alongside a dedicated team of Project/Survey Managers, Engineers and Technicians. You’ll be instrumental in delivering detailed project plans, high-quality investigation reports, load capacity assessments, technical advice and developing innovative engineering solutions for our clients.

As our Project Engineer, you’ll have the unique opportunity to receive training in our investigation consultancy practices to fine-tune the best of your skills with our support and experience, including surveying, non-destructive testing, structure life care plans and material sampling.

  1. Prepare comprehensive investigation reports with interpretative insights and recommendations for remedial repair, further investigation or assessment.
  2. Collaborate with Project Managers, Site Investigation Teams and Clients.
  3. Develop detailed project plans, adapting to evolving and changing needs.
  4. Communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely.
  5. Conduct first principles load capacity assessments.
  6. Create extended service life assessments and structure life care plans.
  7. Build strong client relationships and participate in client workshops.
  8. Contribute to CPD initiatives and mentor junior engineers.

You’ll need a full UK driving licence and significant experience as an Engineer working on existing buildings and/or refurbishment schemes. A degree in a relevant discipline and be working towards or have achieved Chartered status. Experience with surveying, non-destructive testing and materials sampling is essential.

What We Offer:

  1. Competitive Salary: £55,000 - £75,000 to reflect your experience and qualifications.
  2. Unique Projects: Work on a variety of historically significant buildings, monuments, modern structures and key infrastructure across the UK and potentially abroad.
  3. Professional Development: Specialised training and support to develop your forensic engineering, testing, commercial awareness and problem-solving skills.
  4. Supportive Environment: Be part of a friendly and collaborative team that values your contribution and invests in your success. A group with excellent long-term retention.
  5. Flexible Working: A mix of office collaboration and site work to reflect project needs.
