We are seeking a technically strong Waste Management Project Director who wants to play an active role in growing our waste management team to leverage GHD’s significant experience in new and innovative technologies in waste management.
Responsibilities
Establishing long-lasting client relationships with municipal and private clients and prospects.
Working with the Regional Business Development Manager to build the business in the Northwest.
Leading proposals for new projects.
Leading waste management projects on time and budget for municipal and private clients requiring permitting, operations support, detailed design, construction management and inspection, and environmental studies.
Leading GHD’s waste management projects including planning and design of:
Composting facilities
Anaerobic digestion facilities
Landfills
Transfer stations
Material recovery facilities
Renewable natural gas projects
Waste to energy projects
Working with GHD’s waste management planning team to undertake the technical components of master plans.
Owning the preparation of technical reports and completing peer reviews of designs completed by others in the Waste Management group.
Effectively communicating and connecting with existing and prospective clients.
Completing regulatory conformance reviews.
Project management of studies and designs to support permitting applications.
Undertaking liaison activities with regulators.
Providing mentorship and leadership to intermediate and junior technical staff across our offices in Western Canada.
Providing internal leadership in the growth and direction of the North American Waste Management Team.
Qualifications
15+ years of experience in the solid waste industry.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a consulting role.
10 years' experience in a business development role.
Engineer, scientist, or planner.
Valid class 5 drivers' license with driving record in good standing.
Willingness and ability for overnight travel and to conduct field work.
Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills and ability to work in a highly-skilled and diversified project team.
