Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador (MNL) is a membership organization dedicated to supporting and representing municipalities across the province. MNL empowers local governments through advocacy, training, and the delivery of impactful programs. We are launching the "Tomorrow's Towns" program, a new initiative focused on sustainable community development through placemaking, aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. The program will help rural municipalities across Newfoundland and Labrador create vibrant, resilient, and sustainable communities.
Position Overview:
MNL is seeking a creative and community-oriented Project Coordinator to lead the "Tomorrow's Towns" program. This role is integral to the success of the program and involves working closely with rural municipalities, community organizations, and other stakeholders to implement placemaking projects that contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Project Coordinator will oversee the development and execution of projects within the program's five key streams: Heritage and Arts, Healthy Built Environment, Food Security, Environmental Stewardship, and Climate Action.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Planning and Coordination: Lead the development and launch of the "Tomorrow's Towns" program, managing a comprehensive project plan and coordinating with municipalities for placemaking opportunities.
Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with stakeholders and guide municipalities in implementing local placemaking projects.
Workshops and Events: Organize workshops, webinars, and other events to engage communities in placemaking activities and build capacity in rural development.
Project Implementation: Coordinate the steering committee, oversee project execution, and provide technical support while ensuring projects meet timelines and budgets.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Develop a monitoring framework, collect and analyze data, and prepare reports to evaluate project impact and document best practices.
Sustainability and Communication: Create strategies for long-term program sustainability, develop a guidebook for replication, and promote program achievements through various channels.
