Join the Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority (EWSWA) as a Project Coordinator, where you will play a critical role in the successful launch of the regional Green Bin Program and other waste management initiatives.
The Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority (EWSWA) is the governmental agency charged with the responsibility of providing an economical and environmentally conscious integrated solid waste management system for the County of Essex and the City of Windsor. The mission of the EWSWA is to provide programs to manage the solid, non-hazardous waste generated in the County of Essex and the City of Windsor in an environmentally sound manner through processes which include, but are not necessarily limited to reduction, reuse, recycling, composting, and landfilling.
As the Project Coordinator, EWSWA, you’ll work closely with the Project Manager and other key stakeholders to support project planning, execution, and monitoring. Your efforts will contribute directly to waste diversion, organics, and sustainability initiatives that benefit the entire region.
As the Project Coordinator, you will be responsible for:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering, or a related field. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is an asset.
Experience and Expertise: 0-2 years of experience in project coordination, waste management, environmental or civil engineering, or a related field. Relevant internships, co-op placements, or volunteer experience will be considered. Experience reviewing and interpreting technical drawings, contracts, and environmental reports. Experience working in a municipal or government setting is considered an asset.
Skills and Abilities: Strong organizational and time management skills. Familiarity with waste management principles, sustainability initiatives, and regulatory requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Experience with procurement, contract administration, and budget tracking is an asset.
Other Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario driver’s license and have access to a personal vehicle for work-related travel within Windsor and/or the County of Essex. Must provide a Ministry of Transportation Driver Abstract (Uncertified). Must provide a Police Information Check (PIC) document. Availability to work weekends and afternoon/night shifts as required.
As a CUPE 2974.1 position, this role is on Band 10 with a starting hourly rate of $34.55 (effective April 1, 2025) is just the beginning.
