Job description

Our client is a real estate development and construction company that has been operating for decades. They are looking to add another member to their team.

Position Summary

As a Project Coordinator, you will support a wide range of projects from both an administrative and a business perspective. You will work closely with the rest of the Construction team throughout the preconstruction and construction process to deliver the best building and service possible for our internal and external clients. You will be responsible for the on-time completion of a quality project, maximizing efficiency, controlling costs, and building relationships with every person involved in the project.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Review project drawings, specifications, and reports for coordination.
  2. Develop complete estimates on selected projects consisting of site visits, quantity take-off, pricing, and presentation of the estimate for Management’s review.
  3. Contact trades and suppliers regarding tender invitations, pricing, addenda, and tender/bid closings; prepare detailed tender/bid analysis for each scope of work.
  4. Perform project setups, distribute project documents, and manage and coordinate project contracts on the Procore system.
  5. Monitor expenditures effectively, review invoices in detail, and manage labour and material costs according to the project budget and underlying estimate.
  6. Prepare and participate in the creation and updating of project budgets, both initial concept budgets using historical unit rates and preliminary budgets using trade inputs.
  7. Prepare project reports weekly, monthly, and as required to update stakeholders on the status of the project.
  8. Coordinate procurement process, draft and prepare contracts, and track changes and additions to contractual agreements.
  9. General and administrative duties as required by the construction team.
  10. Liaise with the project team, clients, consultants, and trade contractors.
  11. Other priority duties as required at the direction of the Director.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Minimum of 5 years of progressive construction experience, preferably with a general contractor.
  2. Post-secondary education (University Degree or Technology Diploma) in Construction Management, Building Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
  3. Familiarity with commercial, multi-family residential, and industrial projects.
  4. Excellent knowledge of the Lower Mainland and BC construction industry, and BC Building Codes.
  5. A commitment to our methodologies and procedures is a foundational element for all roles.
  6. Strong technical skills and computer proficiency in Procore, MS Project, MS Office (Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint), and strong skills in Excel.
