The Ultra Project and Program function is responsible for providing the strategy for the planning and execution of all development and production programs. The function controls program costs, manages adherence to technical and schedule performance plans. The function manages the risks and opportunities and directly interfaces with customers as required.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, collate, track and verify performance data from multiple sources.
  • Use Earned Value Management (EVM) or other metrics to track project progress in respect of required milestones.
  • Compare actual costs to planned costs and highlight issues to the Project Manager.
  • Raise issues and exceptions to appropriate levels for resolution.
  • Review required documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain project schedule in MS Project (or support a Scheduler to do so, on larger projects).
  • Provide insights on how to improve project processes for better overall delivery and value.
  • Create presentations and related project material for internal and external customers for review. Carry out tracking of the corrective actions that result from those reviews.
  • Support the delivery of proposals to customers.
  • Work with functional counterparts to manage project resources through effective resource planning.
  • Identify and manage the alleviation of project risks and the realization of project opportunities.
  • Ability to understand and develop procedures.

Role Requirements

  • Candidates must be capable of completing and successfully passing a Canadian Controlled Goods assessment.
  • Candidates must be capable of acquiring a Canadian Reliability and NATO Secret Security clearance, and be able to travel within Canada and overseas occasionally.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business-related discipline or equivalent experience/combined education.
  • 3 years of experience in project management process-oriented roles (such as project controls or PMO support).
  • Prior experience in using MS Project is a benefit.
  • PMP certification or equivalent is a benefit.
  • Background in defense/aerospace/manufacturing industry is desirable.
  • Experience scheduling development projects, reporting on progress and running metrics.
  • Business acumen to include a working knowledge and understanding of project performance management and tracking.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining internal and external stakeholder relationships with a high level of satisfaction.
  • Strong skills with MS Office suite. Ability to create presentation and related project materials.
  • Familiar with basic financial concepts.
  • Knowledge of performance reporting.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience in supporting customer programs.
  • Attention to detail and analytical skill.
  • Professional presence with a desire to improve processes.
