Job description

Borger Group of Companies is currently looking for an experienced Project Coordinator to assist and support a wide range of Earthworks & Underground projects from start to finish. You will be responsible for and administer construction procedures and ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner focusing on the use of Heavy Job and Microsoft Office software. You will also be key in the methodology of earthwork and underground logistics and be able to fully comprehend the challenges of efficiency. This role is ideal for someone who loves technical challenges, appreciates the need for information and enjoys a fast-paced environment that can evolve quickly. A team member in this role needs to be flexible and needs to adapt to a fluid environment.

The Project Coordinator must be well-versed in all construction methodologies and procedures and able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organizational skills.

The goal will be to ensure all administrative support documentation, methodologies and reports are delivered on time according to requirements and without exceeding budget.

Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with Borger’s General Manager, Field Superintendent, internal Project Managers and field supervisors to determine the specifications of the project.
  2. Understand the uniqueness and methodology of each specific project to maximize efficiencies.
  3. Complete timecard reports, daily field information and prepare daily and weekly summaries.
  4. Aid project team to determine needed equipment and materials for each project with attention to budgetary limitations especially in time required for each portion of the work schedule.
  5. Assist in planning construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met.
  6. Update project schedules, keep minutes and assist in Operational Meetings.
  7. Request and manage project specific change orders and scope changes.
  8. Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports.
  9. Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report any issues.
  10. Keep the Project Manager updated with day-to-day reports of the job progress.

Requirements

  1. Proven experience as a project coordinator in heavy-civil and deep utilities related projects.
  2. In-depth understanding of construction procedures, material, and project coordination principles.
  3. Familiarity with both quality and health & safety standards.
  4. Good knowledge of MS Office, Project, Heavy Job and other Earthmoving software training will be provided.
  5. Ability to work independently yet achieve goals as a team member.
  6. Outstanding communication and attention to detail.
  7. Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  8. A team player with leadership abilities.
  9. Ability to visit multiple work sites and have your own transportation.
  10. PMP or equivalent certification will be an advantage.
  11. Post-secondary certificate in Engineering (CET).
