What will you be doing!
- Providing leadership to junior team members, capitalizing on individual and group strengths to ensure project targets are achieved.
- Taking a lead role in establishing project management systems used for planning and controlling their own project(s).
- Analyzing project, program, and resource demand information – detailed cash flow analysis, cost estimating, forecasting, and budgeting of difficult complexity.
- Providing contract administration, including reviewing contract deliverables, invoices, contractor timecards, etc.
- Producing and updating project work breakdown structures, project cost estimates, schedules, and various control databases.
- Working with the Project team to prepare project plans and reports related to scope, cost, and schedule.
- Interacting daily with task leaders, gathering and analyzing critical project performance information, investigating variances, initiating corrective actions and changes, and monitoring trends.
- Attending project meetings with internal and external stakeholders to monitor and support the project’s progress.
- Training Junior/Intermediate Project Control Coordinators on core planning and control processes (work breakdown structure, cost estimating, cost control, scheduling, risk management, etc), systems and templates.
- Identifying and managing opportunities and risks to achieve the best possible impact on schedule and financial targets.
- Understanding and applying the guidelines of ANSI/EIA-748-C: Earned Value Management Systems to projects.
- Maintaining, tracking and reporting all financial aspects of the project(s), including project cost forecasts, procurement invoices, accruals and actual costs billed to the project(s).
- Confidently asking probing/relevant questions related to project performance.
- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to complex problems.
- Coordinating the scope definition and assisting in the preparation of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
- Preparing and maintaining the development of the baseline and working project schedules.
- Performing Earned Value Analysis to measure the project(s) schedule and cost performance.
- Implementing changes to scope and cost, ensuring related approval and project change control documentation are in place before baselines are adjusted.
- Working with the Project team to prepare and maintain the project(s) risk register.
- Analyzing the schedule/cost performance and risk assessment.
- Preparing and implementing resource and cost loading schedules.
- Preparing and presenting source information used for financial forecasting and resource demand.
- Preparing project bids and scheduling submissions.
- Ensuring document submissions are complete promptly.
- Supporting the Project Manager in achieving project targets and/or exceeding customer and company expectations.
- Tracking and managing incoming and outgoing project management paperwork as necessary.
- Developing and maintaining constructive and cooperative working relationships with core project team members.
- Developing planning and control framework processes, including the definition of the hierarchies, coding and account structures required for tracking, analysis and performance measurement.
- Implementing changes, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Developing and supporting the Project & Program Costs team in the cost estimating and budgeting processes when required.
- Chairing and participating in project review meetings and making presentations of project information.
- Working with contractors & consultants on construction schedules and incorporating contractor schedules into the master P6 schedule.
- Conducting Critical Path analyses with the project team and providing corrective actions or solutions for deviation.
- Receiving progress updates from contractors and the project team and updating the P6 master schedule.
- Managing and maintaining the change control process for the respective project(s).
- Identifying and recommending improvements to complex processes that affect own area, others and / or clients.
- Responding to situations to contain/mitigate short-term risk in accordance with established processes and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- University degree or college diploma in a relevant field from an accredited school.
- PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) certification is required; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is considered an asset.
- Experience
- Minimum of 4-6 years of progressively more responsible work experience in Project Management.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Outstanding organizational skills and oral and written communication capabilities. Adept at synthesizing complex information and distilling such information into clear and concise messages for written reports or oral presentations.
- Proven ability to network across multiple teams and at different organizational levels.
- Demonstrates questioning attitude and can assimilate complex data and recommend solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong computer skills. Advanced level capability in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint), MS Access and working knowledge of MS Visio, PCRS and ImpAct. Advanced level capability in scheduling software (Primavera). Able to learn CNL’s document management system, other CNL applications and other systems such as Cobra.
- Demonstrates strong work ethic, sound judgment, tact and diplomacy.
- Knowledge of project management principles and processes, as recognized by the Project Management Institute (PMI), and a proven ability to apply this knowledge in the project controls of large and complex undertakings, especially those related to scope, schedule, cost, risk, and change control.
- Ability to apply knowledge of Earned Value Analysis.
- Understanding of the methods and resources used by functions engaged to perform project activities, e.g. Engineering, Licensing, Quality Assurance, Procurement, Manufacturing, etc., as well as the deliverables typically produced. Recommends improvements to other CNL functions.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
