Position Description

Clinical Research Project Coordinator (CRPC) - Child Health Equity

We are seeking a highly qualified candidate for a Clinical Research Project Coordinator (CRPC) position at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. This is a full-time role (1.0 FTE, 35 hours/week) beginning with a one-year contract. The Clinical Research Project Coordinator will work closely with the Principal Investigator to assist in all study-related activities.

The candidate will coordinate several studies relating to Child Health Equity. Healthcare equity is defined as providing healthcare that does not vary in quality because of personal, social and economic characteristics. Child- and family-centered care (CFCC) recognizes families and children as essential partners in children's health care; core concepts include respect and dignity, information sharing, participation and collaboration. It is unclear if social and economic inequities influence CFCC in pediatric hospital care.
Data collection of a cross-sectional study investigating health care inequities and family centered care experienced by caregivers during their child's hospital admission in SickKids, CHEO and McMaster has just been completed. The candidate will be responsible for cleaning this data, data analysis, preparation of manuscript(s), presentations, posters and organizing team meetings to discuss results.

Here's What You'll Get To Do:

  • Coordinate all research activities in collaboration with principal investigators, including general project management, protocol development, ethics submissions, contracts, managing budget, timelines and deliverables.
  • Quantitative data-analysis; data cleaning, analyzing and interpretation of data.
  • Assist in design of database design / case-report forms and/or questionnaires
  • Relationship building (acting as key communicator between project team members, study personnel, stakeholders and community partners).
  • Conduct literature reviews and keep current with study literature.
  • Training and supervision, where appropriate, of study personnel & trainees.
  • Contribute to proposal development, report writing and presentation of research findings.
  • Drafting and preparing manuscripts for submission, including references and appendices.
  • Assist Principal Investigator (PI) in new research proposals and preparation of grant applications.

Here's What You'll Need:

  • A Master's degree in Epidemiology, Health Science or a related field with a minimum of two years experience in clinical research. Post-secondary degree in a health-related discipline (e.g., Nursing, Epidemiology, Health Sciences, Psychology) with 1 years related clinical research experience. A clinical professional degree may be an asset, as would be certification as a clinical research associate (e.g., SOCRA, ACRP accreditation).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience writing research proposals, journal articles and preparing presentations
  • Experience preparing and submitting REB applications
  • Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and self-directed
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage and coordinate projects in all phases
  • Interpersonal skills and stakeholder/relationships management skills (experience working with patients and clinicians)
  • Excellent computer skills (strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and data collection platforms such as REDCap)
  • Ability to function independently yet collaboratively within a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Experience working in a paediatric setting
  • Strong motivation to contribute to building a research team focused on improving children's health
  • A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity & inclusion

Applicants should send a cover letter with a statement of research interest, a curriculum vitae with publication list, and share a writing piece (i.e. article, report, proposal or previous grant) that was authored by the applicant.

Employment Type: Temporary Full-Time- 12 month contract with possibility for renewal
