Work Location: Scarborough Civic Centre - 150 Borough Drive

Job Type & Duration: Full-Time, Temporary Vacancy (4 months)

Hourly Rate: $19.13 - $20.97

Shift Information: Monday to Friday, 35 Hours Per Week

Major Responsibilities:

The Program Support Trainee will assist divisional staff with general office duties as it relates to the program area. Duties could include the following:

  • Assists with various divisional programs and office functions.
  • Assists with collecting data and assembling information packages for various projects/assignments/operations.
  • Locates, searches, records, photographs, inputs data, field notes, sketches, etc.
  • Travels to various locations and/or attends special events with staff to distribute and provide information and answer general questions.
  • Assists with packing, delivering, setting up displays, equipment, supplies, etc.
  • Provides information, documents requests/findings for information and directs inquiries to appropriate staff to answer questions/handle requests.

Key Qualifications:

Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

  • Post-secondary education in a discipline pertinent to the job function (i.e. business, research, marketing, or other relevant field), or an approved combination of education and experience.
  • Experience engaging with the public and providing front-line customer service, responding to inquiries in person, on the telephone, and through email.
  • Experience working in a professional office environment providing administrative support & maintaining accurate records.
  • Experience with computer applications including MS 365 Office Suite.

You must also have:

  • Good understanding of small business and entrepreneur activities including business planning, relevant legislation/regulations, analyzing trends and data, financing, basic principles of accounting, marketing, staffing, and business operations will be an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, clients, and the public.
  • Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively within a team setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
  • It is an asset to have intermediate or advanced knowledge in SharePoint, Excel, and Word.
  • It is an asset of knowledge in project management methodologies and Lean Six Sigma.
  • Ability to travel to other City work locations as required.
