Position: Program Supervisor
Reports to: Executive Director
Location: LCFC (Main Campus and Education Building)
General Function:
The Supervisor oversees the daily operations of LCFC’s childcare program, providing leadership, guidance, and support to staff to maintain a safe, nurturing, and developmentally enriching environment. The supervisor demonstrates not only strong leadership qualities but also serves as a mentor, guiding and supporting team members in their growth and development. Working closely with the Executive Director and management team, the Supervisor ensures that the center adheres to all legislative requirements, supports the developmental needs of children, and fosters strong relationships with families and the community. This role requires thorough knowledge of Ministry of Education regulations, local health and safety standards, and center policies.

- Policy Enforcement: Ensures all practices adhere to the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and center policies.
- Professional Development: Engages in and leads professional learning opportunities, meeting CPL requirements and supporting team development.
- Health and Safety Awareness: Monitors, rectifies, and reports health and safety issues promptly.
- Documentation: Maintains accurate records, including attendance and health logs, ensuring compliance with Ministry and organizational standards.
- Serious Occurrences: Reports serious occurrences and manages conflicts, communicating promptly with the Centre Director.
Key Responsibilities/Duties: Leadership Responsibilities:
- Provide mentorship and build trusting relationships that foster learning and encourage growth and innovation with staff.
- Foster a positive and supportive work environment by upholding workplace policies and promoting collaboration and teamwork.
- Conduct staff orientations, training, and development opportunities.
- Provide constructive performance appraisals, with support & input from the Executive Director as needed.
- Establish and manage work schedules, ensuring adequate coverage and ratio compliance.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development workshops.
- Address and facilitate staff conflicts, fostering a positive, cohesive team environment.
- Collaborate with the management team to ensure consistency in program delivery.
Program Development and Maintenance:
- Support staff in implementing high-quality programming that aligns with LCFC’s program statement and philosophy
- Support staff in developing age-appropriate programming based on the needs of each child, adhering to CCEYA guidelines and HDLH
- Ensure a holistic approach to child development that aligns with the center’s philosophy.
- Serve as a role model by occasionally teaching and supervising in classrooms.
- Participate in mandated training sessions and facilitate training for staff.
- Conduct regular health and safety checks, monitor sanitation practices, and report concerns to management.
- Report serious occurrences directly to the Centre Director and assist in the process following Ministry guidelines.
- Maintain and organize program records, including attendance, health checks, and incident reports.
- Oversee cleaning, kitchen duties, and laundry to meet health and sanitation standards as needed.
Public Relations and Community Engagement:
- Build positive relationships with families, support staff with Seesaw Communications and assist complete necessary reports.
- Collaborate with community partners to support the center’s initiatives and programs.
- Act as a consultant for parents on child development, coordinating meetings as needed.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with community representatives.

- Plan and develop program elements with input from the Executive Director.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping for children’s files, personnel files, and attendance.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and licensing requirements.
- Communicate regularly with the Executive Director and management team on center operations.
- Complete additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Professional Representation and Compliance:
- Model professionalism, collaboration, positive communication, accountability, emotional intelligence and integrity
- Comply with all LCFC policies
- Serve as an advocate for LCFC within the community.
- Actively participate in team initiatives, supporting the center’s goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE) from an accredited institution.
- Registration in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a childcare setting, with some supervisory experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proven leadership skills with a focus on team support and development.
- Proficient in computer use and comfortable navigating various software applications.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (within 6 months old) and current First Aid/CPR Level C
- Additional certifications as required by the Executive Director (e.g., Anaphylaxis, AODA, WHMIS, doctor’s note, and updated immunization record.)
