The Tribal Resources Investment Corporation (TRICORP) is a not-for-profit First Nations-owned lending institution committed to empowering local entrepreneurs, small businesses, and economic development initiatives while enhancing skills within First Nations communities in Northwestern British Columbia.

Since its inception, TRICORP has played a vital role in fostering prosperity and self-reliance at both individual and community levels, providing business loans totaling $31 million as of December 2021. TRICORP continues to be a key supporter of First Nations’ economic development.

Founded in 1990 as an Aboriginal Capital Corporation, TRICORP administers a self-sustaining revolving loan fund for Native businesses. Principal repayments are reinvested into the fund for re-lending, while interest from the loan portfolio supports the necessary administrative services. Our experienced team of Indigenous administrators leads innovative initiatives and partnerships, all aligned with our overarching vision of First Nations economic self-reliance.

Our Mandate

TRICORP’s mandate is to provide financing for business activities which increase the number of permanent jobs, reduce unemployment and facilitate business ownership among First Nations people. Applicants must be of Aboriginal descent, the activities funded must take place within the region, and projects must fall within the TRICORP mandate.

About the Role

TRICORP is hiring two Program Officers to support the development and delivery of labour market projects and training initiatives to support the nations we work with. Reporting to the CEO, and working in the office in Prince Rupert, these roles involve collaborating with First Nations communities, public post-secondary institutions, and industry partners to advance economic self-reliance in Northwestern British Columbia. The Program Officers will coordinate and evaluate TRICORP’s Employment, Skills, and Training Services (TESTS) division programs, review funding applications, and provide support services to clients.

You are a passionate advocate for uplifting Indigenous communities through education and employment. You are driven by a commitment to fostering economic self-reliance and empowering First Nations individuals to seize opportunities for growth and development. With an understanding of Indigenous cultures and a strong desire to make a positive impact, the ideal candidate brings experience in customer service, collaboration, and community engagement. You are adaptable, resourceful, and dedicated to creating pathways to success for Indigenous peoples in Northwestern British Columbia. Additionally, you are well-versed in using computer technology, and demonstrate great communication skills, ability to take initiative, and talent for organization and relationship building. The new hire must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable with frequent travel within the service region and sometimes staying away from home overnight.

What You Will Do

  1. Provide direct support for TRICORP’s Employment, Skills, and Training Services (TESTS) division by researching, planning, developing, promoting, implementing, and evaluating programs and activities.
  2. Review funding applications and provide advisory and liaison services to clients in accordance with corporate policies.
  3. Liaise with training candidates, third-party service providers, and other project stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  4. Plan and organize project schedules, track tasks, compile information and reports, and secure quotes for necessary services.
  5. Make logistical arrangements and maintain accurate documentation for program participants.
  6. Provide support to instructors and participants as needed to ensure the smooth program delivery.
  7. Monitor program performance and collaborate with TESTS Division colleagues to prepare relevant and timely reports for the Chief Executive Officer.
  8. Perform other duties as reasonably required to support the mission of TRICORP.
