SCOPE OF POSITION:

Reporting to the Manager, Policy & Advocacy, the Program Officer, Policy and Advocacy will support the implementation of advocacy and outreach programs to advance women’s rights and gender equality. The Program Officer will maintain effective operational and reporting relationships with funders and project stakeholders, and deliver quality program activities on time and on budget.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (This is not an exhaustive list of duties to be performed)

Coordination and Support

  • Support the development, execution, and coordination of the W7 Canada and Feminist Influencing Group activities.
  • Act as a liaison and ensure seamless coordination of committee functions.
  • Organize and oversee logistics for at least two major annual events.
  • Coordinate and facilitate various working groups to ensure timely development of policy recommendations.
  • Oversee and coordinate vendors and contracts.
  • Facilitate effective communication between project stakeholders.
  • Maintain a current understanding of domestic and international development issues.

Program Administration

  • Ensure timely submission of narrative and financial reports.
  • Ensure accurate project budgeting and close monitoring of spending.
  • Administer contractual agreements with stakeholders.
  • Monitor partner agreements and performance for compliance.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES:

  • University degree in a directly related area.
  • Minimum three years of experience in a community or non-profit organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in advocacy programming on women’s rights.
  • Proven track record managing programs funded by Canadian Government agencies.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and passion for connecting with people.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; working knowledge of French is an asset.
  • Strong computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail and database systems.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: The following qualifications are considered significant assets:

  • Professional training in gender analysis and/or project management.
  • Experience in women’s economic justice programming.
  • Experience in innovative approaches to monitoring and evaluation.
