Our employment opportunity of the moment: Program Officer, Monitoring Evaluation and Learning

Location: Ottawa, Ontario (Hybrid Mode)

  • A master's or Ph.D. degree and a record of publication in a relevant discipline preferably related to evaluation, development studies or computer science.
  • Proficiency in French and English (reading, writing and speaking).
  • Three (3) years of recent work experience relevant to monitoring evaluation and learning, including developing and implementing monitoring, evaluation and learning strategies and plans for organizations or programs, preferably within an international development context.
  • Knowledge in designing monitoring and reporting templates, collecting data from these templates and synthesizing into monitoring reports.
  • An enhanced knowledge of the transformative potential of AI to advance development.

You are interested in:

  • Designing and implementing plans to monitor AI4D’s portfolio of projects and preparing yearly monitoring reports for AI4D funders.
  • Designing, drafting and commissioning user-friendly summative annual performance reports that synthesize progress and outcomes mainly to AI4D funders.
  • Engaging proactively with monitoring, evaluation and learning focal points amongst project partners and funders and on occasion, making presentations and/or representing IDRC at selected meetings, conferences, workshops or seminars.
  • Supporting the development of a learning partnership, including identifying an AI4D learning partner, to ensure the AI4D program benefits from continuous improvement through learning.
  • Joining an organization that values and models diversity, inclusion, and equity.

  • Hybrid Mode: The Centre provides a hybrid work environment, and your presence at the office is governed by the teleworking policy.
  • This position requires occasional international travel.
  • As a result of this process, the Centre may establish a pool of pre-qualified candidates for future permanent and term opportunities, requiring the same competencies relevant to the Education and Science Program.
