Hybrid Work:
This is a hybrid work position in Calgary, Alberta and requires in-person collaboration at the WestJet Campus (22 Aerial Place NE) 3 days per week. This provides flexibility for the remaining 40% of the work week, allowing for critically important learning, collaboration, and networking with our colleagues. Specific days in the office are agreed upon by the team.

The Program Manager, Ops Development & Innovation will support key areas within our Operations Control Centre (OCC) & our Technical Operations groups; driving forward their specific business initiatives & program support, as well as ensuring cross-functional alignment & engagement across all parts of the organization.

This role will be responsible for driving key transformational improvements related to operations performance, exploring and pursuing development opportunities, and implementing these initiatives to establish an efficient and effective operational model for WestJet.

Responsibilities:

  • Determine key methods of innovation and delivery to achieve WestJet Group’s strategic projects and business-led initiatives, acting as a leading representative for the operations business unit.
  • Partner with Digital, IT, Experience Management, Network Planning & Strategy teams while leveraging project management best practices, including agile methodology and cost-effective strategies.
  • Collaborate with all operational business units to identify problem statements, develop and implement initiatives that drive progress and remove barriers, while focusing on operational KPIs and business targets to achieve key roadmap goals.
  • Stay connected on emerging technology in the market and evaluate potential development and innovative solutions to identified business problems.
  • Determine and deliver quick wins while constantly iterating and responding to changing priorities and competitive dynamics.
  • Promote and lead continuous improvement initiatives within the operational group and cross-functionally, driving cost-efficient strategies and opportunities to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Deliver reports and visualizations to the operating departments and senior leadership that highlight trends and anomalies, while providing recommendations for actions, including resourcing, timing, and cost considerations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • 6+ years of practical experience in a strategic operations program management, project management, or business development role.
  • Familiarity with project management principles, methodologies, and approaches.
  • Knowledge of WestJet’s operating model is considered an asset.
