As a Program Manager you will be accountable for executing a diverse range of projects that support one or more lines of business, including global initiatives. You’ll have the responsibility to deliver results on time and budget, working with distributed teams across a range of IT disciplines including Architecture, Service Delivery, Application Teams and external service providers and vendors.
Your Job
- Run and manage multiple complex projects under the umbrella of a defined program and take responsibility for their delivery using formal program management techniques as appropriate.
- Ensure that program executive sponsorship, governance, organizational structure, scope, objectives and success criteria are established.
- Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders (Business/Product Owners, IT) to outline the program approach, sequencing of work and resourcing necessary to execute effectively.
- Facilitate the business and product owner decisioning process, as necessary.
- Establish and facilitate Program Steering Committee and Program Governance meetings as appropriate.
- Manage project dependencies across and related to the program ensuring delivery alignment.
- Drive delivery of projects within the program with predictable consistency and efficiency with focus on achieving expected results.
- Manage program scope and ensure proper change governance is implemented.
- Identify and manage program level issues/risks. Create actionable mitigation strategies that will increase delivery confidence and avoid delays that could adversely affect program success.
- Actively manage program communications and relationships with program stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including the Executive Management.
- Ensure proper governance to ensure included projects are delivered on time, meet the business & technical requirements, and delivered within the agreed budget.
- Manage, monitor and report progress against milestones and budgets, ensuring consistent and transparent communications are provided to Management and Executive Leadership.
- Manage program change management and training efforts to ensure operational impacts are minimized.
- Assist with vendor (Systems Integrator, Software, other) relationship management.
- Provide leadership, coaching and guidance to project managers, resource managers and product owners by building and motivating the team to meet project goals, adhering to their assigned responsibilities and project milestones.
- Create and manage a program culture of transparency and accountability.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships and set expectations with all stakeholders and act as the key point of contact for the project.
- Ensure adherence and adoption of Munich Re’s project management methodology – ‘MR Essentials’. Actively contribute feedback to established methodologies, within the spirit of continuous improvement.
Your Profile
- University degree preferably in Computer engineering / IT, Business Administration, Liberal Arts, Social Sciences or similar qualification.
- 10 + years of experience in successfully managing the delivery of IT Solutions in Applications delivery and Transformation projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment, ideally in a global Finance/Insurance or regulated industry.
- Able to demonstrate strong management skills including project management, financial management, change management and facilitation.
- Successful coordination of project deliverables based on an understanding of the customer needs.
- Preferably, you are already ITIL, Scrum or PMI certified or have the readiness to pursue one with our support.
- Demonstrated personal organizational skills and ability to coordinate the efforts of others involved in the delivery of projects, including negotiating deadlines and commitments.
- Demonstrated ability to work globally across businesses and international cultures to deliver results.
- Recognized as proactive and with high problem solving competence.
