Join the City of Medicine Hat as a Program Leader
Temporary Full-Time (May - July), On-Site
Are you passionate about leading recreational programs that inspire and engage people of all ages? At the City of Medicine Hat, we're looking for a dynamic and dedicated Program Leader to join our team at the Big Marble Go Centre. In this role, you'll plan and deliver a variety of recreational programs designed to foster community, creativity, and fun for participants of all ages. Whether it's coordinating activities, facilitating group events, or supporting recreational initiatives, you'll play a key role in creating memorable experiences.
This position will provide dedicated support for the Southern Alberta Summer Games and will be scheduled during evenings and weekends, with evening shifts typically starting at 3:00pm.
Your key responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage the registration of Medicine Hat athletes attending the Southern Alberta Summer Games.
- Serve as the City of Medicine Hat's representative at the Games, ensuring positive athlete experiences and smooth logistics.
- Work closely with community groups and minor sports organizations in support of the Games.
- Prepare a final evaluation and written report following the conclusion of the Games.
- Support other Active Living initiatives and community projects over the summer months.
- Ensure patron safety and provide excellent customer service during the delivery of recreation programs.
- Communicate clearly, professionally, and promptly with participants, teammates, and community partners.
- Assist with organizing, planning, and delivering recreation programming.
- Communicate effectively with community groups and organizations in the delivery of recreation programs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment, following health and safety protocols.

Qualifications
- Successful completion of Grade 12 or high school equivalency diploma.
- Six (6) months of general experience in Parks and Recreation programming or a related field.
- Must be of minimum age (18).
- Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Driver's License, with an acceptable driving record.
- Preference will be given to candidates with current CPR and Standard First Aid Certificate C.
- Preference given to post-secondary students in Recreation, Kinesiology, Education, or Business.
- Experience working with minor sports organizations is considered an asset.
- An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
