Program Lead (Contract Position)

Salary: $3,040.00 monthly
Start Date: June 14th, 2025
End Date: August 29th, 2025

What qualifications are we looking for?

At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Experience working with children to facilitate inclusion within outdoor based programs.
  • Experience leading and/or supervising counsellors in expedition focused programs.
  • Previous experience working with people of all abilities and a solid understanding of the integration process.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.
  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • Three professional references.

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?

Reporting to a CCH or Riveredge Coordinator or Supervisor, Program Leads are responsible for:

  • Overseeing the daily program for camp groups including making changes due to weather, availability and group situation.
  • Counsellor support and supervision.
  • Support of campers through behaviour management and parent / teacher contact.
  • Education and encouraging healthy behaviours in campers and staff, including measures put in place to reduce illness and injury, risk management, outdoor and community living, and physical skills and literacy.
