Job description

Catholic Social Services is currently seeking a contract full-time, 40 hours per week, Program Coordinator for Youth Outreach Grant in EDMONTON to join our Immigration team. Providing excellent client-centered care, you are confident, thoughtful, and motivated to achieve success when supporting others in your community. Contract ends on June 2026.

Job Summary

The Program Coordinator for Youth Outreach Grant will engage high risk and immigrant youth to increase their knowledge about the risk of being unhoused and human trafficked. The project will distribute Be Safe kits and use creative activities as tools for knowledge sharing and positive self-expression. The Coordinator will help foster a sense of community between all participants from both Service areas in order to develop protective peer networks.

Job Duties

  • Connect with potential client groups to understand their needs and interests for program planning and successful engagement.
  • Organize workshops/activities for youth, arranging external facilitators and/or venues when necessary.
  • Recruit program participants and ensure client targets are met.
  • Update youth resources as appropriate, including card deck.
  • Coordinate activity plans between Service areas, including intentional opportunities for separate youth groups to come together.
  • Assemble Be Safe Kits to distribute to program participants.
  • Promote program with potential clients, other organizations in the sector, and the community.
  • Collect feedback from program participants and adjust activities as necessary.
  • Maintain program records, statistics, and budgets.
  • Establish and maintain respectful, collaborative working relationships with the client and their key stakeholders.
  • Present as a positive and professional role model and ambassador for the Agency in interactions with clients, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Model and maintain respectful personal boundaries with clients.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully in a professional manner with clients, both verbally and in writing. Actively listen to clients to understand their needs while being aware of and responding to non-verbal communication.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully in a professional and confidential manner with all Agency employees, and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Complete all relevant program documentation.
  • Attend and actively participate in scheduled team meetings. Support team initiatives and help to identify problems and suggest solutions.
  • Attend all mandatory Agency training/employee development opportunities.
  • Assist in maintaining building and equipment according to Agency Standards/Policies. Responsible for ensuring cleanliness standards are met. Ensuring timely reporting of any damage or safety concerns.
  • Understand, support, promote, and adhere to the Agency’s vision, mission, values, and organizational ethics, and treat all persons with humility, compassion, and respect.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

What This Job Requires:

  • Minimum of a Diploma in a Human Services’ discipline or equivalent.

Degree in a Human Services’ discipline is an asset. A Bachelor Degree (Recreation Therapy, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology) is preferred. Prior experience in event planning and implementation of small and large scale activities for vulnerable populations. Excellent organization and implementation skills. Trauma Informed and excellent knowledge of the role trauma plays in the communication and interpersonal skills of vulnerable populations. Ability to multitask, motivate, and create synergy within a large team. Passion for community development and youth inclusion. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

  • Ability and willingness to work various shifts (which may include days, evenings, and/or weekends) and overtime as required to meet client and Agency needs.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, as required, to different offices, programs, and other sites to attend meetings, presentations, and/or training.

Conditions of Work

  • Working Conditions
  • Regular interactions with external contacts including clients, clients’ family members, key stakeholders, partner and government agencies, and members of the community.
  • Regular interactions with internal Agency staff and management.
  • Frequent travel is required throughout Edmonton & surrounding areas.
  • May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions including viruses and pathogens (blood borne and/or air borne).

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Physical effort requiring manual dexterity to use desktop computer, peripherals and standard office equipment is frequently required (i.e. between 25% and 75% of time on the job).
  • Performs high degree of physical activities including walking, standing, sitting, lifting, and supporting clients.
  • Requires high degree of visual attention, visual and auditory acuity, and mental concentration.
  • Required to handle incidents and emergencies at any time as they occur.
  • Driving required frequently (i.e. between 25% and 75% of time on the job), including during winter and other poor weather and/or road conditions.

Mandatory Training Requirements

  • Mandatory training requirements for this position are reflected on the employee’s Record of Learning (ROL).
  • All required mandatory and other Agency-assigned training to be completed by assigned due date.

Conditions of Employment

  • Satisfactory Security Checks including Criminal Record Check (CRC) with Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Record Check (CIRC).
  • Enrolment in the Agency Group Benefits plan as applicable.
  • Reliable vehicle and valid Class 5 driver’s license to travel to different offices, programs, and other sites.
  • Summary of driving record with no more than six (6) demerit points current within one (1) year.
  • Required 2 years of Driving Experience.
