York West Active Living Centre (YWALC) is a not-for-profit organization that enriches the lives of adults 55 plus. YWALC supports healthy, independent living by providing innovative health and wellness programs.

YWALC understands the importance of an active, healthy lifestyle and therefore we strive to maintain a wide range of health and wellness programs, educational workshops, and multicultural activities. Italian Programming

1. Hands on program support to all members
2. Build membership through appropriate outreach activities
3. Assist with membership and program registration
4. Create all marketing/promotional materials in Italian
5. Provide practical support for program participants
6. Establish relevant programming with the Manager, Direct Services
7. Provide information, referrals and accompaniment as needed to community services

English Programming

1. Responsible for YWALC online programming
2. Responsible for marketing/promotional materials (flyers, MailChimp, etc.)
3. Hands on program support to all members
4. Assist with membership and program registration
5. Handle cash transactions
6. Record and report program statistics using YWALC’s client information software
7. Program set-up for daily activities
8. Work alongside the Executive Director to liaise for special grants
9. Work closely with volunteers
10. Other duties that may be deemed necessary within one’s ability

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

1. Fully proficient in speaking, reading and writing Italian and English
2. Criminal Reference Check, no more than a year old
3. Excellent working ability with Microsoft Office Applications
4. Strong administration, research, communication and interpersonal skills
5. Willing to work occasional evenings or weekends
6. Ability to plan, organize, delegate and supervise programs
7. Self-motivated, self-managing and high achieving
8. Skilled at motivating, empowering others and team building
9. Bondable, team player, able to multi-task
10. Legally eligible to work in Canada

Nice-to-have:

1. Recreation Management in Gerontology, Community Worker or Recreation and Leisure Services Diploma an asset
2. Job-related experience an asset
3. Relevant experience working in a volunteer driven environment

Working conditions/requirements:

1. Able to function in an environment that provides constant interruption and change
2. Enjoy a constantly changing environment
3. This position requires daily lifting, carrying, stretching, walking and standing as an essential job function
