We’re looking for a Program Coordinator to work with a nationally recognized leader in youth empowerment and community development located in Nanaimo, British Columbia.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic, high-impact non- profit setting focused on mentoring young adults, fostering strong employer partnerships, and creating career development opportunities. This is a highly collaborative role with room for growth. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for supporting participants in a job matching program for young adults, ensuring they gain meaningful employment experiences.
Program Coordinator responsibilities:
• Support young adults in the program by connecting them with meaningful work opportunities that match their skills and career goals.
• Develop and maintain relationships with employers and community partners to create a strong network of job opportunities.
• Coach and mentor participants, assisting with resumes, interviews, and workplace skills development.
• Facilitate engaging workshops to equip participants with the tools they need to succeed.
• Mediate and support participants with any interpersonal or professional challenges they encounter.
• Organize logistics such as participant travel and housing setup to ensure a smooth program experience.
• Be a proactive problem-solver, identifying ways to improve the program and enhance participant experiences.
The successful candidate has:
• A Bachelor’s degree in a related field (social work, education, psychology, nonprofit management, etc.) or equivalent experience.
• Experience working with youth in mentorship, coaching, or employment programs.
• Strong relationship-building skills to connect with participants, employers, and community partners.
• A passion for helping young people succeed and a belief in their potential.
• Comfort with facilitating workshops, group sessions, or trainings.
• Organizational and problem-solving skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends to accommodate participant support need and workshops as well as regularly scheduled emergency on call shifts.
• Bilingualism (French/English) is a plus! (but this is not required)
Compensation and benefits:
• Salary range: $45,000–$50,000
• 15 days per year personal sick time (non transferable from year to year)
• 15 vacation days per year
• Paid time off during the end of year office closure (Dec 25th to Jan 1st)
• All staff receive paid days off for provincial stat days in which any staff member lives (ex: St-Jean is for all staff not only employees based in Québec)
