Gananoque Arts Network (GAN) is a registered not-for-profit community arts organization with a mission of “Focusing on transforming our community and lives through the power of creative expression.” We believe community arts contribute to the holistic health of a community, and we offer opportunities to create positive social change through connecting people with others and to themselves. The organization values accessibility, transparency, and mutual respect.
Gananoque Arts Network is embarking on a new Seniors’ Arts program called Creative Arts for Seniors. This program is funded by a Government of Canada grant from the New Horizons for Seniors Community-Based Program. Programming is and will continue to be designed by seniors for seniors in their communities, including in close alignment with the Gananoque Seniors Association. Although all are welcome to apply, we will be prioritizing hiring a senior (age 55+) as the Seniors’ Program Coordinator. Reporting to the GAN Board of Directors, the Seniors’ Program Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the program from beginning to end. They will garner ideas from interested seniors and plan an arts-based program taking the results into account. The successful candidate will partner with cultural workers and teachers for program design and organization, develop and execute an advertising campaign to recruit participants, and maintain records to support program final reporting and evaluation.Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain program partnerships with appropriate venues or organizations.
Garner input from Seniors on programming ideas.
In partnership with the identified Board member lead, draft contracts and agreements from templates for partners, facilitators, photographers, etc.
Contribute to marketing and outreach plans for participant recruitment.
Create detailed plans for the program in collaboration with teachers and cultural workers and keep thorough records of program developments.
Source and purchase supplies and materials for the program, keeping receipts, and adhering to program budget.
Contribute to a program evaluation report after the program is complete.
