Salary: Academic starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience as detailed in the collective agreement for academic employees.

About the Professor Role:
The successful candidate will be required to teach a range of courses in both the Bachelor of Social Science – Addictions and Mental Health and the Addictions and Mental Health Ontario Graduate Certificate. Teaching assignments may also include courses in a range of related programs at the diploma, degree and/or Ontario graduate certificate level.
The incumbent will teach, develop curriculum, design/revise specific courses, create an effective and innovative learning environment for our students, assess student progress and achievement; work collaboratively with colleagues, participate in committees and related associations. Teaching may be assigned at both the North and Lakeshore campuses and may include teaching at Humber Downtown.
The incumbent will also support student advising, student recruitment, graduate placement, assist with the promotion and marketing of programs and develop and maintain strong industry and community ties.

Education
The successful candidate must hold a PhD in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Sociology, Social Policy, or a related discipline. Candidates who are ABD (All But Dissertation) will also be considered.
Experience/Skills
Candidates will have a proven teaching ability, with a minimum of 5 years of experience teaching at the post-secondary level. Additional qualifications include a minimum of 5 years of community-related practice and/or clinical experience, knowledge of current trends in the field of addictions and mental health, and experience working with diverse communities. Preference will be given to candidates with practical community-related professional experience in the field of addictions and mental health.
The candidate must demonstrate ability to teach courses across the institution, along with having specialized skills in the following areas: ability to translate theory into practical application; ability to supervise field placements and/or thesis projects; ability to participate in industry-led or community-based applied research; and excellent written and oral communication abilities.
In addition, the successful candidate will have effective teaching skills, demonstrated ability to coach and support students, experience managing classroom dynamics, and strong knowledge and application of student-centric pedagogical principles. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated ability to contribute positively to curriculum development and delivery. They will possess well developed interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills and will be a collaborative team player who is committed to a positive team culture.
