RATE OF PAY: $24.67 - $27.40/hour (Increases set out as per the collective agreement. Full rate effective after 1 year of service)

ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:

The Production Worker will work with the other trades adhering to production schedules in a safe manner.

MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Works independently and with other trades in the remanufacturing and repair of equipment used in the transportation industry.
• Works from blueprints, sketches, manufacturer’s patterns, circuit diagrams or schematics, and construction specifications.
• Uses hand and power tools commonly used in the industry.
• Adapts to new methods, processes, material and equipment.
• Follows prescribed safety procedures including the use of safety clothing and equipment.
• May work various shifts and on weekends and some work outdoors in adverse weather.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Secondary School Diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED).
• 1-2 years experience in a production environment.
• Experience using hand and power tools.
• Experience in finish carpentry, window and flooring installation considered an asset.
• Must be mechanically inclined.
• Proficient in reading, interpreting and working from blueprints.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written).
• Excellent organizational and planning skills.
• Knowledge of safety codes and demonstrated ability to work in a safety conscious manner.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
• Commitment to Health and Safety.
• Must be able to work shift work.
