Located in Barrie, Ontario for over 45 years, we are an ever-growing and ever-changing company and currently seeking a highly motivated, goal-oriented, and innovative Production Supervisor to become a part of our Operations team.
The Position
We are currently seeking a Corrugator Production Supervisor to join our Production Team. This is an ideal role for someone with a manufacturing production and leadership background. This role is a hands-on position working on the production floor, driving efficiencies and problem-solving day-to-day challenges under the direction of the Corrugator Production Manager. The position will require flexibility with scheduling and may require overtime.
The regular schedule is Monday to Friday from 5:00am-3:00pm (day) and 3:00pm-1:00am (afternoon) - rotating weekly; flexibility for overtime and backup coverage is required.
Day to Day Responsibilities
- Utilizing management skills to supervise, direct, and coordinate the efforts of the team to keep the operations running at maximum efficiency with minimal interruption.
- Responsible for coaching, counseling, and training employees on performance, quality, attendance, and health and safety issues using proper documentation and discipline procedure.
- Proactively resolve off-schedule conditions with machine crews.
- Build constructive relationships. Ensure accountability, engage employees, and promote teamwork and responsibility to improve employee morale.
- Provide strong leadership. Involve employees in goal setting to improve productivity and reduce controllable costs. Communicate the current and expected level of performance in terms of MSF per hour, tardiness, absenteeism, etc.
- Monitor and continuously improve ways to reduce waste.
- React to quality issues, non-conforming product, troubleshoot process and work with the team to ensure quality expectations are being met.
- Maintain an awareness of the condition of operating equipment. Arrange equipment repairs through assigned maintenance personnel.
- Perform and oversee administrative activities such as scheduling and employee timesheets, completing production reports, conducting safety conversations, providing accurate late list tracking and compiling other reports as required.
- Adhere to and promote all aspects of the Health and Safety program in compliance with Company policy and OHSA.
Requirements
Job Qualifications
- Minimum grade 12 and related post-secondary education in Engineering or equivalent corrugate industry experience.
- 2 years’ supervisory experience in a unionized, manufacturing environment; corrugated industry preferred.
- 2 years’ supervisory experience managing a minimum of 25 people, including recruitment, employee engagement, and performance management.
- 2 years’ quality improvement experience.
Job Skills and Knowledge
- A sound working knowledge of current Ministry of Labour, Human Rights, Occupational Health and Safety and other applicable legislation.
- Knowledgeable on ISO 9001 procedures.
- Ability to develop a strong understanding of corrugated, printing, and laminated products.
- Project Management skills; desire to take responsibility for a project and see it through to completion.
- Ability to coordinate a high level of activity within a variety of conditions and constraints.
- Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills with a strong ability to multi-task.
- Computer skills required – knowledge of windows-based software.
- Customer Orientation: maximizing opportunities that put customers’ needs first.
- Adaptable/enthusiastic to change and committed to corporate goals and objectives.
- Detail-oriented, organized, able to provide accurate information and work both independently as well as in a team environment.
- Accountable and responsible to proactively and effectively resolve issues and deal with changes and interruptions.
- Comfortable working in a shop floor environment.

- Work is in an industrial environment; depending on the area you work in, conditions may be hot, cold, dirty, dusty, wet, or noisy.
- Punctuality and attendance are extremely important to the success of the operations in general as well as contributing to an overall positive team environment.
- This position requires you work overtime or to provide backup coverage as needed.
