This role is primarily responsible for efficiently managing all production activities by maintaining department efficiencies. Ensuring planning, organizing, product flow and cost-effective procedures are applied.
- Supervise Operation staff within production and assist with warehouse staff if needed.
- Provide leadership, direction, coaching and development to their teams and coach other supervisors.
- Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve overall efficiency of the department.
- Establish or adjust work procedures and ensure daily, weekly and monthly goals are met or exceeded.
- Prepare work schedules including vacations schedules.
- Accountable for the accuracy of timecards, approvals and scheduling of direct reports.
- Analyze and work with team members on incentive program results and opportunities.
- Drive operations to continuously improve its processes and procedures by fostering and operating in a continuous improvement environment.
- Analyze work orders to estimate worker hours and tasks that meet both internal and external needs across the manufacturing plant.
- Analyze and research problems and provide resolutions by maintaining records and tracking key metrics.
- Manage processes to minimize any form of waste such as re-work, spoilage and theft.
- Ensure compliance of all company policies, procedures, safety guidelines and HACCP.
- Create a working environment within the production team that enhances employee performance and retention.
- Manage labour costs by maximizing shift productivity, controlling work hours.
- Collaborate with other supervisors and others in the organization to ensure that deadlines are met.
- Monitor general maintenance of the warehouse and have all materials rotated according to the FIFO inventory method.
- Assist internal and external customers with expediting orders (Customer pick up/Same day service).
- Complete daily production inspections (coach cards, observations, and facility audits).
- Daily communication with Merchandising team to identify and resolve any raw material issues or delays from the vendor or inbound carrier.
- Manage/Identify barriers that cause indirect time and record indirect (work delays).
- Ensure product accuracy and integrity in conjunction with inventory control.
- If applicable, understand and interpret the CBA, participate in grievance, mediation, arbitration procedures at unionized facilities.
- Backup and right hand for Operations Manager during vacations.
- In times of coverage the 1-up supervisor is responsible for the continuity of the duties and responsibilities to be completed.
- Responsible for compliance with all Policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) comprising Sysco’s Food Safety Program, specific for the assigned role.
- Assist Food Safety Program Manager in ensuring compliance to Sysco’s Food Safety Program that leads to compliance with third party certification and customer requirements.
- Understand that their role is critical in creating a safe organization with minimal environmental impact and the value that brings to the organization.
- Drive Environmental, Health and Safety performance by acting as an example and holding their team accountable to complying with EHS programs, policies, and requirements.

Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements (About you):
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Lean Food Manufacturing/Operations role.
- Preferred 5+ Years’ experience in Lean Food Manufacturing role.
- Preferred production supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of Protein and relevant work experience preferred.
- High School Diploma required.
- Diploma or Degree in Production/Operations Management preferred.
- Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
- Knowledge of systems would be considered an asset. (ADP, Intelex, labour standard system).
- Intermediate in MS Word, MS Excel.
- Demonstrated track record of high performing operations/production leadership, fostering an environment of teamwork and common goals and developing and mentoring manufacturing staff.
- Have demonstrated success in executing a departmental strategy regarding annual plans, hiring, key performance improvement plans, key initiatives around people, customers and profitability.
- Proven ability for driving process improvements, adhering to plans/budgets, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Excellent time management, problem solving and decision-making skills.
