Overview

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the daily activity and performance for their specific operations area and the development, leadership and management of the associated staff. The Production Supervisor will lead by example supporting alignment with all functional groups, Safety, Environment, Land, Manufacturing, and Quality to drive communication and consistency. Primary focus is optimizing operational safety & performance and labour management to achieve the highest productivity at the lowest cost of production.

Responsibilities

Safety Culture:

  • Promote safety culture through engagement with employees, JHSC and subcontractors with an objective of developing a “think before you act” culture.
  • Work with Safety and Shift managers to administer, promote and review safety policies, processes and procedures.
  • Assist in the implementation and management of all local and regional safety initiatives.

Human Resources:

  • Administer and manage local collective and hourly working agreements with site employees.
  • Directly responsible for the motivation, scheduling and training of all production personnel.

Production Management:

  • Implement and track maintenance, production processes and strategies to achieve targeted Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
  • Employ daily communication process with management and Quality to drive group efficiencies.

Financial Management:

  • Assist in planning, driving and tracking financial performance with local/regional tools.
  • Support sales/logistics with balancing inventory and sales needs.

Customer Focus:

  • Assist with inventory reconciliation while balancing inventory levels in order to meet local demand.
  • Schedule and assist logistics, quality and maintenance staff to optimize production.

Land Management:

  • Ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
  • Implement and management of a sustainable mining plan.

Environmental Management:

  • Ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
  • Implement and manage operational standards to mitigate our environmental impact.

Community Relations:

  • Support effective relationships within the community by participating in local activities/events.

Relationships With Others Functions:

  • Reports directly to Production Manager.
  • Works closely with Production Manager, Logistics Manager, and others.

Key Accountabilities

  • Safety/Environment: Ensure compliance with government/Lafarge policies/procedures.
  • HR: Development, training and management of front line employees.
  • Production: Managing manufacturing KPI’s and scheduling of employees.
  • Financial: Assist with the development of annual Labour/production budget.
  • Customer Focus: Inventory reconciliation.
  • 10 Hour work days plus weekend work is expected.

Dimensions

  • Reports directly to Production Manager.
  • 30+ Hourly Staff.

Compensation:

$80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per annum

Education

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 diploma.
  • University or college degree preferred.
  • Shifters Card/ Pit Boss Certification preferred.

Experience And Skill Set:

  • Minimum of 7 years’ production and supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ supervisory experience preferred.
  • Computer knowledge in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Mines Act.
  • Recognized safety training.
  • Experience in administration of Collective Agreements.
